I agree. But Richter was adamant about the fact that Chyrst wanted to come back, and making it well known he wanted to be back, but Barry wanted to go another direction. Be interesting to see if anyone else corroborates it, but I trust this guy, he's not a guy that just gets hammered and starts rattling off BS.

Yeah, that's my biggest question, too.

I think Andersen is going to prove to be a good recruiter. Defensively, I think he is going to be a good coach. Offense and keeping our current recruits will be where he makes his mark.

It's hard not to get the Wisconsin recruits even in his first year. While he's making connections around the rest of the midwest, he may fill in with some California kids or north Texas kids.

Allegedly Andersen was the guy Barry called five minutes after he told BB to leave the hotel room, possibly Andersen was the guy Barry wanted all along and had the perfect excuse not bringing Chryst back, that excuse being he worked his friends at Pitt hard to get Chryst the job.

That's quite plausible, though we did pay Chryst top dollar to keep him here before.

If Andersen was the guy he wanted the minute BB said he was leaving, shouldn't we trust Alvarez's judgment? I mean, there are some flaws in what we think of Alvarez but I guess I'll take his word on it if this was the guy he had at the top of his short list immediately.

What's the source on Andersen being the guy from the beginning? All I've read says that Gary wasn't interview until Monday.

If that's true, it makes sense that he went with Andersen, especially after working hard to get Chryst the Pitt gig. I'm just worried that Barry hired Andersen because he was a yes man, not because he was the best guy for the job. I don't want top notch coaches scared away from Wisconsin because of Barry's ego.

My assumption (and hope) is that this is the last hire under Barry's regime anyways.

I dunno. When I look, I think Andersen is starting to look like a solid candidate. Who knows, I guess.

I think he'll be a solid hire and there's talk about his QB following here to Wisconsin

Yeah the USU folks are freaking out about his QB defecting with him.

Chuckie Keeton, their current dual-threat QB. He'd be an awesome get if he transferred.

I'm not sure if I believe he was the first choice. Didn't he just make some comments stating his loyalty to USU? Why do that if Barry called him right after getting the news from BB? Unless those quotes are from before that.

Coaches always make comments like that. You can't trust what they say. History has shown this time and time again.

For all of the debate on how big of a coaching gig UW is, here is a good indication.

Sportscenter schedule:
-Some Lakers and Heat games where they try to drum up that there is turmoil (there may be in LA).
-Mark Sanchez being benched.
-Other stuff
-Britney Griner

I'd assume the story about this is further after that.

That said, they'll probably have a more full report when he officially signs up and they do the meet and greet conference. However, if this was filling up the Alabama gig or something they'd be flying people in right now to do on-site reports still tonight.

ESPN is in bed with the SEC and ACC. They don't report remotely positive B1G news.

Agreed. I'm just saying it would be strange to make them after talking to BA if he was the guy BA wanted all along. Maybe he made those comments before speaking to BA.

Yeah. Interesting that @FootballScoop and I'm sure a few other sources were wrong earlier. Apparently called Andersen's brother who said "he's not leaving." Even they were a bit blindsided.
