Trade up from 53 using a 4th. Alec Pierce
59. Trey Mcbride
92. Romeo Doubs
4th round. Zach Tom

I'd be happy with 4-5 of those guys, but think 3-4 of them can be gotten significantly later.

If you look at the chart posted above Gute quite often picks guys where the consensus is they can be had later

If you take Hall, it means that all of the better DT are already taken, and I think Travis Jones might still be around until early second. Pierce will probably be there (or a better WR will have fallen to #53) in the third. Doubs isn't that out of line, depending on if there's a run on WR in the 1st- 3rd.

I think it's proven to be a better strategy to let the draft come to you - - with a few exceptions - - than reaching for someone you could have gotten 16+ slots later.
It might be interesting to see how guys turned out who were drafted by a team who moved up specifically to draft him.

Krys Barnes had 521 snaps last season. Oren Burks had 205.

Good one. We ran a double ILB set 65% of the time last season. Draft a LB better than Krys Barnes and I think we can bump that number up, no? Devin White + Lavonte David, Darius Leonard + Bobby Okereke, Roquan Smith + Danny Trevathan (when he was still good), all shared +95% of the snaps together. It'd be awesome, trust me. Might even be able to stop the run!

Here are three drafts. Like always, I traded down. The left one probably represented too much trading down, but I kept missing the players I wanted. In the middle one I had consolidated my picks to 8, until a late 2nd round tradedown that netted me 3 picks for one. The rightmost is with no trades.

The "no-trades" mock is one of the few no trades mocks I've done that I liked. I got lucky in the first round.

My dream scenario is that we trade a second rounder for Waller. Another dream scenario is that we trade a first for Scary Terry. Hard to see any rookie pass catcher making similar impact this year.

Among the actual draftees, it’s interesting that Quay Walker is getting picked ahead of teammate Dean in mock drafts. Reminds me of the USC LB year with Clay. That Georgia D is amazing. Three DL maybe in the first round, one of them the top overall. Two LB in the first. A safety in the first.

Speaking of Georgia, Wyatt and Pickens have character concerns that cloud when they’ll be picked. Picking Stokes last year turned out awesome on the field, but maybe it’s turned out awesome off the field too during this year's draft process. I’m sure he could tell a lot about both those guys. If GB picks Pickens, I’d feel good about it, with the research it would represent.

That's not realistic at all beyond the top 10. Too many mock drafts for you. Your understanding of "reaching" is based on the media big boards not the 32 big boards that actually matter. Plus, the option to trade down is not always there.

Oh, I know, it would've been nice to get an extra 4th round pick before drafting Stokes because that's what PFF says, but I suppose we'll just have to settle for securing the best or 2nd best cornerback of the draft at pick 28. How awful

My two cents worth on the draft picks tonight...

There will be a rush for WR's, with 5-6 being gone by #18

The only first round QB (probably Willis) will be picked by #20. (I've gone off the notion that QB "fever" will possess QB needy teams.)

#22 George Karlaftis - 80% of the Packer fan base riots "Where's the WR we were promised??!?!?". 20% think he's a solid choice

#28 Christian Watson - 50% of the Packer fan base erupts for "about effing time" joy. The other 50% riots based on "WTF is Gute thinking bringing on a long shot boom or bust development guy"

As to who they should pick: I have no flipping idea, really. I can think of 12-15 guys where you could talk me into them being a reasonable choice. Whoever they do pick(or trade for), my first post will be: tell me why this is a good or bad move.

Jordan Love gets traded to Atlanta, probably Friday. No idea if it will be Love for a pick by itself, or some combination of picks and players.

Garrapolo and Mayfield remain with their current teams for now. Garrapolo shoulder repair is part of the issue, age and fit may play a role in where he goes. Mayfield will stay a Brown till they pull the bandaid off and release him.

The other QB prospects start to fall in the 20's and into tomorrow
