None of this stuff really surprised me other than the massage stuff. You could read it all by MM and Aaron's body language. My gut agrees with the gist of the article which is that Rodgers is a different kinda guy and probably not the easiest guy to get along with, and that McCarthy checked out and was too stubborn to change. Per the usual with pieces like this however, the 100% truth likey lies somewhere down the middle.
I will say, I think the way Murphy handled Rodgers re: the LaFleur signing has potential to blow up big time. Telling someone as sensitive as Rodgers to not be part of the problem was probably not the right move. Could easily see this not having a happy ending. Never thought it would happen with Brett but here we are

I'm still struggling because everyone is arguing the same point about AROD. Ego, hard to work with, etc.jakecronus8 wrote:None of this stuff really surprised me other than the massage stuff. But when the coach isnt doing his job, and to pretty extreme levels here, how do you expect a QB to not constantly change plays and not listen to the coach?
After years and years of the same blown games, like we lost some epic games. And that is 100% on what MM was doing. Our defense was horrific. You guys know this. That is 100% coaching.
AROD had to literally be the coach on the field and it wore on him.
Key point...all that scrambling AROD did, why was that? Because of the playcalling. He had to constantly improvise.

I can't help think there were several things going on there: Rogers not having confidence in the plays, banged up right side of the line not being as effective later in the season, not trusting the intermediate route runners, Rogers own belief that he's really good at improvising outside the pocket. A lot of it (IMO) is poor schemes and the rest is a mix of banged up/second tier talent and Roger's own mindset. Rogers should own a part of the problem, but a smaller part, in my mind.
I also think Roger's previous injuries may have taken Mac off the hook. On that note, Hundley and Kizer's ineffectiveness played into the idea that you couldn't measure Mac as a result. Mac should have been sacked a couple of years ago, but TT and the board didn't act.

I mean is anyone surprised by any of this?
Rodgers is a overly sensitive primmadonna? Seems like it.
Mac is a buffoon that rode the coat tails of his players greatness and had the game pass him by years ago? Of course.
Thompson was actually just a really bad GM for nearly a decade rather than “White Wizard does it again”? Yup.
Murphy was impotent and distracted? Bingo.
All this was obvious years ago to anyone watching the games on TV from their couch.

Early observers of this had to take some crap over the years.

Shout out to Tyler Dunne for giving validity to 95% of the posts I've made on this board since 2009.
My This guy is a buffoon radar was picking up strong signals on McCarthy in 2008.

My first thought was literally, "welp, new coach has a lazy eye and sounds like he's eating mashed potatoes..."

This is all correct except for the Thompson part. He was fine until 2013/2014 or so. Not only did his drafting begin to suck after that, but the cap bumped up and took his militant "draft and develop [only]" from "good but slightly flawed" to "flawed."
McCarthy is not a special coach but was a solid offensive coach until shortly after the Super Bowl. But "game passed him by years ago" is pretty accurate of that.

Ted also allowed Capers to stay on to long and seemed oblivious to the issues involving his head coach and QB. His job wasn't just to add talent to the roster. He had full authority over everything and at the same time Ted got worse at adding talent, it sure looks like his head was buried deep in the sand over what was happening with the coaching situation in general, along with the relationship between McCarthy and Rodgers.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Rodgers coming out pretty strongly against the report. Rightly points out that it's the same two guys who always attack him.

I think the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.
