Shareholder's meetings today

I was mostly following the updates on twitter, I'm sure some articles will come out soon enough. I'll just highlight what I remember as being interesting to me.
- Possibility of the third Thanksgiving day game being a fixture in Green Bay
- Possibility of hosting the NFL draft
- Expanding Lambeau and the GB community into an entire "Titletown" tourist attraction to increase tourism in the area from 2.5 million annual up to 7-8 million
- Super Bowl in GB not a weather issue but need 25,000 hotel rooms within 60 miles and that is the issue.
- They are really pushing for an 18 game regular season starting in 2012

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see an 18 game season? Every year you see good players drop like flies. Why would anyone want add to the chance that their star RB or QB go down with an injury?

Yeah I'm not a fan of the 18 game season,16 is perfect.
I like idea of having a traditional thanksgiving game at Lambeau though.

I agree on 16 game season from an injury/health standpoint, I can see where the league is coming from on a revenue standpoint for an 18 game season though and understand that it might be a good solution to some other problems.

No, you're not the only one, I think it would be a terrible idea. Injuries are the main reason.

I hate the idea of a 18 game season. I think the only reason the owners want it is for the money. They can talk all they want about fans wanting it, but I think $$$ is the only reason. Do the owners really care that little about the health of their players?
I know individual football records don't mean as much to people as they do in baseball, but it is nice to see some of them. 2000 yards rushing, 5000 yards passing, 20 sacks, 50 TD passes, etc. Now they will all be meaningless.

No 18 game season.
Packers have snapped up quite a bit of land around Lambeau, something like 27 acres for $28 million (I wish I own some land around there) and they are buying up more. Great idea and very smart to try to generate revenue (that doesn't have to be shared) any way they can.
There is talk they want to buy up a bunch of houses south of the stadium to expand the lot. I kind of hope they don't. First of all I park on the street in that area and second of all I think it's cool that Lambeau has neighborhoods adjacent to some of it.
Not crazy about a Thanksgiving day game every year.

An 18 game season would be awful.
It would be more of a contest for who could stay healthy rather than who the best team is.

My fiance and I had an accepted offer for a home a block south of Lambeau on Park Ridge last summer, but it fell through last minute due to our apartment not letting us out of our lease/inability to get sub-lettor (we were able to break contract b/c the house failed the house inspect for a ton of radon in the basement). It was a sweet location and potentially to be valuable if the Packers want to buy land to the south of the stadium. We've decided to stay at our apt for awhile, but love that area in Ashwaubenon near the stadium.
They have snatched up pretty much everything west of the stadium and many of those business are starting to close/move such as Big Lots, Hardees, etc. KMart is one of the few bigger stores still going and I think that could go at any point. They have plans of a possibly baseball stadium (if Bullfrogs downtown plans don't work), a big entertainment district (like Patriots Place in NE), etc.
I am not high on the Thanksgiving game EVERY year.
NFL Draft would be sweet.
I also do not like the 18 game proposal, its perfect as is imo.

I think it's smart what they're doing. I saw some of this coming when they tried to get the Big 10 title game in Lambeau. These are all very smart moves and I support the Packers protecting themselves finically. It would be really cool if we could get to the point where we could have a super bowl in Lambeau.
As for 18 games... Not a big fan of that at all. I understand why they want to do it, but the risk for injury is way too high.
I am a big fan of the thanksgiving game, and the draft being held in Green Bay.
