Trading Rodgers

Maybe a week ago or whenever the whole i'm retiring drama started with Favre this season, i was having some drinks with a good friend of mine. We both were talking about what a pleasure it is to have Rodgers instead who is both an ultra skilled QB and a guy who carries himself as just one of the 53 guys in the locker room.

So then i told my buddy, i can't honestly think of another player in the NFL that i'd trade Rodgers for straight up when i factor in his skills, leadership, age, and team friendly contract given contracts other guys have been given out lately.

I didn't make this thread with any thought that the Packers would consider trading Rodgers or that i'd want them at all to shop Rodgers, i just wanted to know if anyone disagreed with me and there was a player you hypothetically would be willing to trade Aaron for with everything from age and contract factored in.

You win with an elite QB and we have a young one.

Wow. Great question. Surprised and happy that I don't have an answer

I'd trade him for Big Ben....that way he and Finley can maybe or maybe not go out and when they do, hit on 18 year olds and maybe or maybe not have sex with them.

Back to the real question, not many players come to mind.

In the top 10 passer ratings last year Rodgers (4th) is the youngest by 2 years. You have to go to #13 (Flacco) to find one younger and that's only by a year. And I certainly wouldn't trade Rodgers for Flacco.

I'd say he is a top 5 QB and the youngest of the top 5 QBs... So there isn't really anyone I would move him for.

Maybe if you could trade him for two different guys, then yeah. Like I would consider trading Rodgers if we could get Joe Flacco AND Chris Johnson back or something like that. Even then I would probably not do it.

The NFL is evolving into more and more of a passing league and we have the best young passer in the league. It's really a blessing considering we went straight from a Hall Of Fame QB to another guy who looks like he is Hall of Fame quality if he keeps it up. How many teams can say that? The 49ers with Montana and Young? Anyone other team in history?

Aaron Rodgers is the reason that I am a huge fan of TT as a GM too. If you land that franchise QB, you have already accomplished most of what you need to get done.

This is how I feel as well. He has been phenomenal since taking over for Brett, and the sky is the limit. At the end of his career he may even surpass what Brett became as a player. Even if he doesn't, you can't deny that he has kept the Packer franchise highly respected and Super Bowl contending since Favre leaving almost without missing a beat. It is absolutely a blessing.

I have been very critical of TT in past years, but recently I have been very confident in him as a GM. A lot of that has to do with drafting Aaron. That was a pick I wasn't sold on when it happened, but now it is a genius and very fortunate one.

If you were starting a franchise right now, it would be hard to justify taking anyone other than Rogers.

I don't think any player for player trade makes sense but if you could pick any 2 players in the league to acquire in exchange for Rodgers would you do it? Maybe like Drew Brees and Chris Johnson? I'd have to think about that one.

There are a lot of options if you are trading Rodgers for any 2 guys. One of them has to be a QB. Then you can pick an elite guy from another important position. Guys like Dumervil, Ware, Joe Thomas, Nnamdi, Revis, CJ, etc. Now to think of a single team to take two guys from would be much harder.

I still think it's pretty tough to come up with a good combo since one of the 2 has to be a replacement for Rodgers.

It is incredible how good he already is. If some of our younger offensive lineman pan out, he could put up ridiculous numbers for a very long time. Plus, he is such a good athlete and puts in so much work in that area you'd expect him to be able to play a long time provided he avoids injuries. He's also extremely smart.

AR is really the total package. There definitely is not a single player I'd trade him for.

I wouldn't trade Rodgers for any two, let alone any one player. Given that the NFL is becoming more of a passing league every year, we've got an elite, young, franchise QB and that's pretty much the best situation a team can hope to be in.

Rodgers would be my first pick if I were building a team from scratch. He's that good, and when you factor in age, contract, personality, and above all, the position he plays, it's hard to see it being anyone else.

Considering he probably has a decade of good play left, nope.

It would have to be a Herschel Walker type deal.
