Official Cuts Thread

Post#1 » by Flames24Rulz » Sat Sep 4, 2010 6:02 pm

So far:

OT - Allen Barbre
NT - Anthony Toribio
HB - Kregg Lumpkin
DE - Ron Talley

Greg_A_Bedard: RB Kregg Lumpkin has been released. That means Packers are keeping all 3 FBs (likely) or 5 TEs

Toribio and Lumpkin are candidates for the practice squad.

I hope we at least keep Graham Harrell on the practice squad because we have to start developing a third QB. Once we develop that third QB, we can start thinking about trading Flynn for a nice draft pick.

Yeah, I like Harrell quite a bit. I'm hoping he can make our practice squad, but we'll see.

I'm pretty surprised about Lumpkin but the other night during the game they said that Kuhn could do spot work at HB. 5 TE's? I sure hope not. With the way Finley has progressed and with the young guys, they should see what they can get for D Lee.

For what its worth, about 15 minutes ago on Twitter Nick Barnett said there was going to be a "real shocker" in the cuts today

Fat Harrell or Old Lee would be my guess.

I don't think Harrell or Lee would be much of a surprise. I personally hope we keep Harrell and try to trade Lee to a team that needs a TE. If Owen Daniels isn't ready to go maybe we could trade him to Houston.

Yea I don't think they're quite ready to give up on Harrell yet. From the way Bedard wrote on JSonline it sounds like he makes the team simply because the bottom of the dline pecking order is just so bad.

I think Harrell has at least made some plays...which would make him the 5th DL, Wilson has shown nothing at all and neither has Wynn....Harrell has talent, whether he finds it is a different story.

That's who I hope it is. He's had another awful preseason. His game against KC was dreadful.

Sounds like Harrell. I'd be surprised based on what McGinn had to say in today's JS

Bob McGinn wrote:Justin Harrell played 31 snaps in Kansas City, stayed off the ground and did a respectable job. He penetrated on the goal line and stopped big back Jackie Battle for no gain. He barged through a gap and hit Battle for -4. And he generally manned his gap.

At this stage Harrell is no better than a backup, but maybe with a shot of confidence he really could contribute. He is further along than CJ Wilson, Jarius Wynn and Ron Talley, who appear to be contending for the final berth

S / RET Will Blackmon has been cut, according to a team source. The club will probably have to do an injury settlement with him. It's possible they could bring him back later, but if they do the settlement it can't be until Week 10.

That's too bad. I like Will, but ever since I saw his last knee injury I felt like he might be done. It just went too easily.

Jordy or Jackson can do kickoffs. Who is doing punts?
