Bigby almost healthy

Bigby healthy but idle: When the Packers placed safety Atari Bigby on the physically unable to perform list, it meant that he wouldn't be able to practice or play for the first six weeks.

But three days out from the season opener on Sunday, Bigby said he's just about ready to go.

"I'm running and cutting," Bigby said in his first comments since being placed on the PUP list with cornerback Al Harris and running back James Starks on Aug. 31. "I'm doing everything."

Bigby underwent surgery on his left ankle on Aug. 6 and was told the recovery could take four to eight weeks.

If Bigby was disappointed in the team's decision not to give him time to heal, he wasn't saying.

"I'm just rolling with the punches," he said. "Hopefully that's going to be better for me in the long run.

"I was disappointed in myself, that I wasn't able to come back in time. It was for the best interest of the team and I'm for the team."

Eh. He'll be a backup in 6 weeks and likely won't be back after this year unless he wants to take less money than hie's making now.

I've always been a bigby fan, would love to keep him for depth at safety.

Just because Bigby claims he's ready to go doesn't make it necessarily true.

It would have been a pretty poor move to put Bigby on the PUP list if he actually was close. Keeping him and having him ready by week 2/3 is better than having Peprah or Martin available for week 1.
