Looking at TT’s 2005-2009 drafts
Overall 52 picked – 27 remain – (JWynn just made it.)
My thinking is you gotta hit a high percentage in rds 1-3.
Injury did these guys in – both were looking good early – can’t judge
Murphy - 2nd
Underwood – 3rd
FLOPS
Justin Harrell -1st
AJ Hawk - 1st
Brian Brohm - 2nd
Pat Lee - 2nd
Abdul Hodge -3rd
Aaron Rouse – 3rd
vs.
SCORES
Aaron Rodgers - 1st
Clay Matthews – 1st
BJ Raji – 1st
Greg Jennings - 2nd
Nick Collins - 2nd
Jordy Nelson – 2nd
Jermichael Finley – 3rd
James Jones – 3rd
vs
BUBBLES
Brandon Jackson - 2nd
Daryn College – 2nd
Jason Spitz – 3rd
Overall I’d say damn good job.
About the FLOPS -
Hawk & Brohm were understandable picks. AJ was the consensus safe pick and he isn’t terrible – just solid – a disappointment for a #5. And Brohm could have been another Rodgers falling.
Harrell was just a plain dumb gamble.
Lee & Rouse must have been poor scouting?
Hodge - did no one have a stop watch? Don’t have to be fast. But dam - can’t be that slow.
About the SCORES
1st rd – with Aaron, Clay, BJ & add in Bryan Bulaga who looks like another score, TT has filled the two most important positions on both the offense and 3-4 defense. That’s impressive!
Then two Pro Bowlers in the 2nd and another soon to be and potential elite in the 3rd – with Collins, Jennings & Finley.
Nelson and Jones are very good. How good is yet to see.
Add in this year’s 2nd & 3rd – Neal & Burnett – who both look top drawer.
About the BUBBLES
For 2nd rdrs College & Jackson this year is show up time. Can College rebound? Jackson is good as 3rd down back but can he be the featured back? For Spitz who is definitely a player - it’s a question of health.
The 4th & later rds are a crap shoot with a few NFL stars among mostly bottom of the roster guys. So who cares about the misses this low? But the hits are special. TT may have a few – Sitton is real - Jones, Lang, Crosby probably are. Jolly is IF? Flynn, Underwood, Newhouse & Quarless may be.
4 stars out of 6 picks in the 1st. Plenty of hits in the 2nd & 3rd. A few finds in late rds.
TT gets an A from me.
Aside from Harell, Damn fine drafting job TT.
