Bedard leaving the JS to cover the Pats

For the Boston Globe.

I know many aren't fans of his but I always liked his work. He's certainly the most fan-engaging writer in Wisconsin and that's something I'm gonna miss.

Best of luck in Boston, Greg!

Wish we had a Bedard on the Bucks beat for the JS. I'll miss him.

Obviously, I have no inside info, but I hope the guy in the other thread wasn't serious about him being run off. I highly doubt he was run off. Beat jobs are becoming increasingly rare. I'm sure this was a professional business decision to find out what was best for him in a bad industry.

Can't blame a guy for taking the lead writing job for the paper he grew up reading.

I agree

Between McGinn, Bedard, and Silverstein, IMO the Packers coverage is fabulous. I think all three do their jobs at a very high level without any agenda or bias pro/against the Packers as an organization or the guys currently running the team.

Considering how abysmal the Bucks coverage is and how many newspapers are cutting back on staff, Packer fans IMO are spoiled by how good the coverage is of the team.

The only part of Packer coverage i get a bit bummed out by is that Cliff Christl retired for the most part except for a small role in Packers Plus.

This is why Football's Future sucks.

If you aren't roses and sunshine 24/7 you obviously have an agenda against Ted Thompson, Green Bay and probably kittens too.

I didn't like him at first when he came from Miami. But he got a lot better. I'd like to see Lori Nickel do more stories, she's pretty much limited to feature pieces, I think she'd do a good job if given more of an opportunity.

Agreed. She's great.

That site is the Packer version of Badger Nation. It's unreal how homer of a site that is.

Huge loss for the MJS as he was one of the most involved writers I have seen in regards to blogging, fan interaction, etc. He also was not afraid to tell it how he thought regarding McCarthy, Thompson, or any player that was not performing. He is a straight shooter. Congrats to him though for getting his dream job. He deserves it.

Good news is though that Todd Rosiak will most likely be filling in for him for the remainder of the season and he is one of the best college basketball beat writers in the country so should be able to fit in quite nice.

And how strict it is.

You can't even say the Queens lol.

They act like all the fan bases should be best friends, it's so annoying.

Bedard was a good writer but can't blame him at all for leaving. I wish him the best.

The weird thing about this is that it's happening in the middle of the season.
