NCAA Week 9

Post#1 » by trwi7 » Sat Oct 30, 2010 3:31 pm

No Badger game today but huge implications in another game. Michigan State travels to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes.

Missouri @ Nebraska should be a good game as well.

Everything else is pretty meh. Oklahoma State @ Kansas State could be decent.

Minnesota could help us out by not being a bucket of ass against Ohio State and actually winning.

I'm not sure if you guys have the same problem in Wisconsin, I'd assume so, get to your computers by 7 PM to watch Oregon/USC at 7 because ABC has to show the 65-3 OSU/Minnesota game.

I will be watching UM v PSU. Should be fun to see Denard Robinson in Happy Valley. Go blue.

That, and watching the Bucks go 0-3

It's sad that an ACC and Big East team will get into a BCS Bowl over much more deserving Big 10, Big 12 and SEC teams. I just watched the 1st quarter of the Miami/Virginia game. On par with a MAC game.

I realize Miami lost Jacory but what a **** joke.

The good thing is this takes OSU's SOS down. However, they'll still be ranked higher than us given both teams win out...because...uhhhh...they're OSU?

We're possibly going to see an unranked team or two crash the BCS while if all the planets align and the top 3 in the Big Ten win out, we're going to see probably the #6 or #7 team in the Nation locked out of the BCS.

I realize they're trying to be fair or something but the Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse Orange Bowl may get 5,000 national viewers.

We want Michigan State to win out.

Michigan State knocks Iowa further down in the BCS. Then we want Iowa to beat Ohio State to knock Ohio State further down. Then Wisconsin needs to win out and that's the easiest way to get to a BCS Bowl.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about all that BCS garbage. The scenario you laid out makes sense though.

It will have been of no surprise here if MSU gets massively exposed at Iowa. They've just had ridiculous luck with schedule (no OSU, Wisconsin at home, even weaker OOC than us), injury disparities, and comeback wins. I hardly believe that winning at PSU is a given. They can come back to us. We just have to worry about controlling our own destiny. Ann Arbor has provided a house of horrors.

BTW, Wisconsin scored a pretty big commitment in DE James Adeyanju from Chicago. He had offers from Michigan (again), Tennessee, Nebraska, Michigan State, Stanford, BC, Arizona, Illinois, etc. BB is one for one at convincing prospective recruits to pledge their allegiances on his travels this bye week. Yesterday and today he's down in South Florida to woo the Dwyer trio of O'Leary, Brissett, and Maggitt.

Not only is MSU getting exposed, Mizzou is also getting exposed.

What will be more remembered and worthy of credit is at least sharing the Big Ten Championship, and we can't do that if MSU goes undefeated. Ideally, MSU loses two. Even if they only lose 1, a title share and Citrus Bowl appearance is better than a 2nd place finish and earning a BCS bowl appearance. We wouldn't be best in the nation, or even region, within the latter event.

Michigan St. getting abused. Adjust your BCS projections accordingly.

Unfortunately the BCS standings assuming OSU beats Iowa would be:
1. OSU
2. MSU
3. UW

But it would be pretty damn close. This is what I wanted to see. MSU crapping another one away gives us the inside track to the Rose Bowl.
