GREEN BAY (WAOW) - The Green Bay Packers have released DE Michael Montgomery. The transaction was announced Tuesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Montgomery, a sixth-round draft pick by the Packers in 2005 who re-signed with the team on Oct. 15, appeared in two games for Green Bay this season.

To be honest, I forgot he was even back on the team.

With the flurry of activity the past week plus, I don't even know how many spots we have at this point. Bigby, Harris and Starks are all still on the PUP, right? This must mean one of them's coming off.

thats one open spot right? The 3 line backers filled up the rest of the vacancies... i'm wondering if the Packers put some people on the IR for the rest of the season to activate the Pup players.

This opened up a slot for Bigby or Harris who are both rumored to come off PUP this week. My guess is that Starks is going to be put on IR. They will cut someone else to make room for the other of Harris or Bigby unless someone else is injured that they haven't announced yet. Early speculation is that Underwood will be cut.

Is Lee better than Underwood?

I keep hearing Underwoods name too.

I don't know if he is better or not but he has been the kick returner, played more on special teams and it seems like Underwood fell out of the graces of the coaches ever since his incident that is still under investigation

Harris takes Montgomery's spot and Bigby and Starks are not activated for this game.

Monday - if someone got hurt and does to IR Bigby takes his place or someone gets cut. Yeah Underwood seems logical for both behaviour and excess numbers at DB with additions. Unlikely maybe Tauscher to IR to be more gentle then getting cut. Maybe McDonald?

Monday - Starks on IR or QJohnson cut. I know its more likely Nance. But if he does well as KR against Boyz?

I doubt Tauscher goes on IR but that is an interesting idea.

Quinn Johnson is the other name I've heard that could be on the chopping block. I think that is possibly a good theory about activating only one(they haven't done it yet so maybe they are determining who they will want more based on the game plan this week?) this week and then figuring out if anyone needs to go on IR after the game or who to cut next week.

I see no way that Starks ends up anywhere other than IR though.

Yeah I see Starks to IR, Harris to open spot, and Bigby takes Underwood's spot who goes on IR for an "injury" or gets released.

I think Bigby might be the one activated:
