Just a theory: Flynn's play...

Post#1 » by Starkiller » Mon Dec 20, 2010 5:15 am

With as well as Flynn played, and basically going through the same career as Rodgers, sitting his first three years, you think there may be something to McCarthy making "system" QB's? For lack of a better term? I mean think about it. If MM leaves, you think Rodgers may regress? Trust me I doubt it, but it's just kind of a theory. Makes you think a little bit.

MM is a good QB coach. No one denies that. And Flynn has benefited from sitting and learning from McCarthy and Rodgers.

But no. Rodgers is the real deal.

Holmgren did the exact same thing....best case scenario, Flynn doesn't play again the rest of the year and gets flipped for a second round pick this offseason.

Preferably to an AFC team.

I think Flynn is a great backup but don't think he would be a great starter. I would be ok trading him even to the Vikings

I'd love to get a second round pick for Flynn, but if i was a GM for a team needing a starting QB, i wouldn't trade a 2nd for Flynn because i really question if he has a strong enough arm to be anything more than a mediocre starting QB.

For any GM to give up a 2nd round pick for a QB, they should hope/expect that the QB can become a quality starting QB, not just a best case slightly above average QB which i see as the ceiling for Flynn. Hope i'm wrong though because an extra 2nd round pick would be fabulous.

Preferably to an AFC team

I'd have no problem at all trading Flynn to pretty much any NFC team if their offer was the best one. Maybe the Vikings would be the one team i'd think twice about trading Flynn to.

Am I the only one who wants to keep him?

I want him here for at least 1 more year. No chance graham cracker harrell is ready for next season

Trade Rodgers, keep Flynn IMO.

I agree with this, unless MM really feels confident with Harrell and TT takes a QB in the draft, or someone gets crazy and offers a 1st rd pick or a early 2nd.

By this theory, we might as well trade Flynn and Rodgers and go with Graham Harrell if MM is this good.
