"In an e-mail response to ESPN's Ed Werder, Favre said Monday that the Packers are "by far" the best team left in the NFL playoffs.

"[Packers QB] Aaron [Rodgers] is the best QB and the receiving corps is the best ever, maybe," Favre said in the e-mail. "But [defensive coordinator] Dom [Capers] and the defense gets the MVP award at this stage."

I'm assuming as a younger guy his percentage was much better but his percentages when trying to "enter" and "reenter" things is not very high.

It was just last month he begged Peppers to go out and beat the Packers in week 17 to knock us out of the playoffs.

I see this as nothing but his continued attention-whoring. He'd give anything to be in the spotlight today hence the timing of his retirement papers and these comments.

One of my friends just tweeted this. Immediately started to chuckle because of what he told Peppers just a few weeks ago. I hope he is honestly trying to mend some fences but I could also see him saying this to fire up the Bears so they beat us. And/Or the whole hex/jinx thing too.

If we win it all, I'd definitely do it that way. If we don't win it all, I want to wait a few years until we retire it.

It's plain as day that the Pack are rolling. Now retired, and I do believe for real this time, it's about time he steps-up the positive Pack PR in an attempt to win everyone back over. He saw the opportunity to acknowledge the Packers - after what was done on Saturday to the Falcons - and took it.

Still attention-whoring, yes, but I think it's whoring that serves a purpose in his mind. He knows his post-career legend lies with Green Bay, and he has some bridges to repair.

EDIT: And the "beauty" in this is that he can still wish and root for the Bears to beat us. It's just a media release.

He of course is implying that if he had a top defense and receiving corps, he would have won more than one Super Bowl, keeping him still ahead of Rodgers in the hypothetical race to the rings regardless if Aaron comes away with his first to match in actuality this year.

I really don't think this is an attempt to reach out and start the process of forgiveness; more like a pathetic response to the fact that Aaron Rodgers has already made most of us forget him. To an egomaniac like Favre that is by far the worst fate: to no longer even to be hated, to just be forgotten.

I also thought this. Although he compliments Rodgers, I certainly read him saying that the Packers have the best receiving corps ever (LMAO) as an underhanded way of qualifying any success Rodgers has.
