You know the stats. You know the records. You know the passer ratings and the records in-doors and the defensive rankings. Forget about it all, and consider one thing, and one thing only: the Green Bay Packers are playing for the Lombardi Trophy today.

There isn't another NFL team that can claim the kind of bond that we have with the trophy. It was born in Green Bay. It belongs in Green Bay. It's coming home tonight.

The Packers are… errr were an overrated team who has had the benefit of having an easy schedule and a weak division. Sunday’s recent letdown has proven just how one dimensional this team is. When Rodgers is off his game, the team can’t win. Starkes, who everyone got a little too excited for last week only had a measly 8 yards out of 6 carries. Our offensive line crumbles against good competition, and our special teams still sucks.

Rodgers’ poor decision to continue for a few extra meaningless yards cost him his very short start streak and now puts him in jeopardy of missing a must win game in Foxboro.

You see, nothing has changed under Thompson. Nothing. The expectations remain inflated, hopes are eventually deflated, yet “fans” keep saying how good we’re going to be the next season. I am always amazed at how long Packer “fans” not only put up with, but will lavishly praise mediocrity.

This embarrassing loss to the Lions puts the Packers’ season on the brink of collapse, and even if they do manage to edge out the Bears for a playoff spot, there is little hope for any run to the Super Bowl… again.

In six seasons as GM, Thompson will have only gotten us to 2… yes 2 post-seasons. Why again should we be impressed?

I just want to reflect on a few of the funnier comments posted by homers over the past few weeks.

Lars
Anyone who thinks Ted Thompson should be fired after he has been constantly proven correct over the last three years should move to Minnesota. What a dumbass!

So how has Thompson been proven correct after three seasons? That would be only 1 playoff appearance in those three seasons. You are a blind fool. I actually feel sorry for you.

ProTed
Ted Thompson has this organization on the right track and on a huge up-swing. I would agree with the TT / MM haters if this team was a perennial loser on a down swing.

Ouch, looking back, I bet that comment hurts you. This team has been on the “right track” for 6 seasons, right? When do homers like you discover that this track eventually just runs out? How will you call yourself a fan when you reflect on TT’s years as a failure? Or will you just say he got unlucky with injuries during his tenure in Green Bay? Please find another management team to blindly follow.

Tim_m
Wow this site cracks me up. what a total joke. I think its time to give TT another 5 year contract.

Yea, another five years sounds great. Then we’ll have been to 4 post seasons in 11 years. Fantastic.

Keep it coming guys. I always get a good chuckle from your over-exaggerated homer comments.

GO PACK GO!!

Still haven't decided where I'm watching the game. I have a **** ton of work to do tomorrow and might just have a few people over. My other two options are a bar that will have a ton of Packer fans but some Vikings fans, or my friend's party.

I think it's fitting that DB did this thread,he's been one of the biggest Rodgers fans since day 1.

I remember even after Rodgers didn't look so great in the 2005 preseason DB was one of the guys who truly believed Rodgers could be great.

And I remember it because I thought was he crazy.

:D

Tomorrow Rodgers plays in his first Super Bowl and just might bring the Lombardi trophy home.

Here's to you DB.

:wordyo:

And here's to all of you.

It's been an awesome run this year, lets bring it home.

GO PACK!!!

You know the results of the latest Gallup Poll? Half the country never even heard of the word Watergate. Nobody gives a sh-t. You guys are probably pretty tired, right? Well, you should be. Go on home, get a nice hot bath. Rest up... 15 minutes. Then get your asses back in gear. We're under a lot of pressure, you know, and you put us there. Nothing's riding on this except the, uh, first amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys f-ck up again, I'm going to get mad. Goodnight.

Epic thread. Time to erase the bad memory of the Denver loss 13 years ago with a win.

I explained to my eight year old son that we needed to destroy the Roethlisberger t-shirt given to him last year by friends from Pitt. He understood what needed to be done.

I'll make my presence felt here now, though like most, I'll be at a party and probably not posting a ton.

Couldn't imagine trying to sleep as a player right now. You'd have to drug me up. Granted, game's at 5:30 so even if I couldn't sleep til 4 or 5 AM, things could be worked out.

Well, if you were Favre and it were 1998, you would be out with Chewy and Winters for 3 more hours before you returned to your hotel.

I contacted the guy who made this on Twitter. He told me that Driver found the video, showed Woodson, who showed MM, and now MM is showing it to the team before the game.
