Dynasty? (Jay-Z Voice)

The game is over and we won, so you can't accuse me of getting to far ahead of myself. Here are some reasons I think we could be on the brink of something special (as if it hasn't been special already). I wanted to get you're guys thoughts.

1) 2nd youngest team in the NFL. Average age is 25, so this core will be around for a while

2) 15 guys on IR. Most will be returning. Guys like Neal, Jones, Jolly, Grant, Finley and Burnett will be immediate upgrades, where as guys like Barnett and Havner may be shown the door.

3) Young players improving. Bulaga, Walden with a full training camp, Zombo, Shields, I heard Newhouse is a beast etc.

4) Street FAs Every year TT finds a Zombo or a Shields out of nowhere

5) "Real" FAs Rumors Aso wants in, the whole Fitz thing, as farfetched as it may be, its shows that we are being noticed around the league. So who knows, maybe we can snag 1.

6) Draft We can reload and get rid of some dead weight on this roster or we can trade up and get some stud. Lots of options here, and I trust TT to draft some nice players.

7) Injuries Law of averages says we have to have less injuries than this year......right?

8) Special Teams Maybe by the grace of God Slocum will be shown the door, and we'll find a KR. Can you imagine this offense starting at the 30-35 yard line every drive? LOL.

9 Division MIN put all their eggs into 1 basket and it imploded in the face, and now they have like 1 million free agents and no stadium, CHI's defense is another year older, still have no receivers, a shaky oline, a QB who throws picks and were a a Calvin Johnson premature celebration from being out of the playoffs (yes, this is true) and DET has potential, but their back 7 on defense suck and Stafford has been injury prone so far in his career.

We thought we were going to have a dynasty after 1997. Didn't happen. I'm going to enjoy the **** out of this win, and take it one season at a time.

We need another young tackle prospect.

Need a LG prospect (TJ Lang could be the answer but...)

Need another OLB opposite Clay... like the Steelers have with Woodley opposite Harrison

and we need a legit returner...I'd like it to be a WR that is a KR/PR... as we may lose James Jones (FA) or Driver (to retirement)

Ryan Grant though is the huge offseason acquisition. I miss his long break away runs for TDs, we haven't had any this season... and he adds a whole new dimension which would make our offense more consistent and more explosive. 8-)

Cut Barnett... restructure Hawk. Our MLB/ILB core is fine.

HUGE OFFSEASON...If we can be as successful as last offseason... we have a real chance to repeat. Our team will be improved next season... Just getting better on the O-Line esp in the interior is key. Detroit is the one team in the division that scares me up front.

I don't see why not a dynasty. Only thing to worry about is Rodgers and concussions. Don't compare this team to the 1997 team. That was a old vet team built to win now. This team is built to win for along time.

As long as the Packers have a healthy Rodgers, and TT we'll be a elite team.

With the gargantuan number of players coming back next year, I'd definitely be in favour of trading up for impact picks. I know it'd be a part of a departure from the norm, but if Thompson can score another first round round, I have no doubt he can hit on two impact players.

I mean... the Packers, right now, have almost a legit 68 players--53 man roster, 15 injured reserve--and Jolly, give a take a few depending upon preference. Even without knowing what will happen with the the Jones and Barnett/Hawk situation, we're going to have a stacked training camp. As it stands, we'll be cutting not just rosterable players, but players that can do more than just fill out a roster. With that type of existing depth--and not even expensive depth--I think it's worth considering going for another 2009 draft of breaking the mold and trading up.

I mean, come camp and when cuts are going to be made, we're going to be trying to trade the guys before cutting them, a la Havner and company this year. Whatever picks we trade this year to move up for, we can make up with in volume in the 2012 draft.

Or, instead of trading up this year, we trade some of our picks out of this year's draft for more picks in the 2012 draft.

I wholeheartedly believe Thompson's model of building from the draft and not from free agency and trades is the right methodology. Since that methodology has worked and ONLY because we have the second youngest team in the league with a young core locked up, I'm not sure it'd be a bad idea to aim BIG for this draft, or aim for an overwhelming number of 2nd and 3rd round picks next year.

This team won't party until all hours of the night like that team. I actually spent new years my senior year of hs when the Packers went onto win the superb owl ms on purpose with Chewy, Favre, Holmgren at a buddy's parents house in Brookfield. Those teams had serious character flaws among the "leaders."

You guys have a great chance but i thought the same for the Giants. We were the 4th youngest team in the nfl that year we won in 07. We had alot of injuries but were resilient. We had great drafts from Jerry Reese and all seemed great in 08 but things didn't pan out for us.

My point is, don't celebrate too soon. Things change fast in the NFL.

Congratz to the Packers though, the fans and organization deserve it.

PS: Just don't let Greg Jennings shoot himself in the leg. Stuff like that doesn't bold well when your trying to build a dynasty.

Jesus.... Favre, Chewy and Winters went out one night in downtown Milwaukee and Chmura's wife called trying to find out where they were at. Let's just say she was poised to ram a tennis racket straight up his azz.

I laughed with LeRoy Butler, Gilbert Brown and a couple other linebackers at Taylor's a couple years later and they had even more stories.

Those comments are in the heat of the moment after being told the injurys were minor. If someone came out and said Woodson has a broken collarbone it would be sad and obvious he couldnt play.

Love how ppl take comments on a forum and get bonners about reposting stuff. You're like a pitbull with that pink thing hanging out.

i'd argue the 96-98 team was a dynasty. i believe we were the best team and should have won it all back to back to back. Unfortunately, everyone knows what happened in the bronco game in 97 and the 49er game in 98 (2 games to try and block out).

Hopefully this team can win more than one. Us and the patriots have to be the favorites next year. This looks like a great upcoming team, and could be remembered as one of the greats

You seem to come out with a lot of those 'heat of the moment' comments. Perhaps you parents should have taught you to think before you say something stupid.
