MJS Silverstein article on the Packers war room

I only wish the MJS had writers who could do an article like this on the Bucks drafting process. The Packers scouting process reminds me of what the 49'ers used to do in taping all their processes and procedures for continuity and quality control.
Good stuff. The follow up article should then be what happened during the Mike Sherman era and did Sherman veer away from the recommendations of the scouting department? Or was it the fact TT was the critical evaluator and he was in Seattle at the time?

Great article, if the Packers go on to win 2 or 3 more Super Bowls then you might be able to make the argument that Ron Wolf is the most important person in the history of the Packers organization, even more so than Vince Lombardi. It's amazing how much he did for this organization, 10 years after his retirement we are still receiving dividends from his hire.
I'd agree that it would be really interesting to see what happened during the Sherman era since the scouting department was the same as it was under Wolf and now TT. I always assumed Sherman had different scouts once he took over from Wolf, but now that I know they were the same guys I bet Sherman just ignored their input and went with guys he liked. There has to be an explanation for the horrible drafting under the Sherman era because it completely dropped off after he took over.

I like Peter King and I enjoy his column, of course I don't always agree with him. I thought this blurb in this weeks' column was funny:
Quote of the Week III
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about.''
-- Green Bay GM Ted Thompson, who has a right to say what he wants about the Mayock/Kiper/McShay set because he just won the Super Bowl. But have a couple of bad drafts, or pick a couple more Justin Harrells and Brian Brohms, and you might hear the geniuses come out of the woodwork on Thompson.
Just last week 540 played the Mel Kiper clip from when we drafted Brohm. He went on and on about how Brohm was a better prospect than Rodgers and how in a couple of years Brohm, not Rodgers, would be the starting QB in GB.
Obviously those two were terrible picks. They won't be his last. But the guy built a Super Bowl team that's going to be a contender for the forseeable future.

I really enjoy Peter King for MMQB most of the time but he cherry picked that quote like a politician would, super selective quoting. Here is the full TT quote:
“It doesn’t. We don’t keep score in April. If guys turn out to be good players, then we did our job. If a guy comes in, and he’s not a good player or (doesn’t) contribute, then we haven’t done our jobs. I think the fans understand that. There’s a lot of interest in the draft. I think that’s great. Quite frankly, most of the people who are commenting on it don’t know anything about what they’re talking about because I’m supposed to know a lot, and I don’t know all the stuff those guys know.”

Because he's the hero Favre deserves, but not the one Favre needs right now. So Favre won't share a double mocha frappe cappuccino latte with him because he can take it. Because he's not Favre's hero. He's his silent guardian, his watchful protector. His dark knight.

I tweeted at him, saw quite a few other people on my timeline do the same, of course he hasn't responded to it, there is no way he didn't do that on purpose.

Good, he needs to be called out on this. As I said above I do enjoy his columns quite a bit. And although he lives in Boston I could do with a whole lot less about Bellicheat and the Pats.

Eh, those scouts are too expensive. Why have them when you can save money with Walter and Steinmiller?
