Fuzzy Thurston remains one of the most popular players in Green Bay Packers history and fans are rallying to try to help him.
Those fans are asking President Barack Obama to pardon Thurston, who the IRS claims owes roughly $1.7 million in back taxes. To satisfy a portion of the money Thurston owes, his Super Bowl II ring is scheduled to be auctioned off in August.
According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, a Facebook page “Save Fuzzy Thurston” has been created. The chances of them helping Thurston get his prized ring back seem slim, but you never know.
I honestly don't have a lot of sympathy for people who cheat on their taxes but I thought this was a pretty interesting story.

God that sucks about his ring. I hope a Packer fan buys it then gives it back.

But can you imagine the taxes on a 1.7m gift?

If someone buys it and gives it back to him it can be seized again as an asset. His business partners all paid up, somewhere Fuzzy got some horrible legal advice. It's pretty simple, you withhold taxes from your employees but don't forward that cash to the feds you are going to get caught. Dumb. I've met Fuzzy, he's a likeable guy, but being a Packer doesn't give you a pass.

Agree 100%. A criminal is a criminal, regardless of what he wore as a player. That's flat out stealing.
