2011 Fantasy Football

Post#1 » by Reddeye » Mon Jul 25, 2011 3:55 pm

I liked this thread last year so I thought I would start it again. Give your sleepers, busts, guys being drafted too high or too low, etc. Ask any questions someone is bound to give you an answer. Post your teams once you have drafted.

Woooo, good call and one of my favorite threads from last year.

I suppose discussion won't take off until after free agency, but count me in as someone who gets to keep ahmad bradshaw and is hoping he becomes the featured back on the fins.

Curious where everyone stands on this issue.

Who ya got, Aaron Rodgers or Mike Vick?

All biases aside, A-Rodge 100% for this guy.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

Guys I will not be drafting this year:

Arian Foster (Think he's going to be overvalued)
White RB from Browns (Because he is a white RB)
Darren McFadden (Same reason as Foster)

Probably going to do the same thing I did last year and try to get in that 6-8 pick range, then go with Andre Johnson.

I'd go with Rodgers, mainly because I trust him to stay healthy more so than Vick. You can call injuries luck all you want, but a guy like Vick running that much and putting his body on the line that often is likely to lead to bad things... especially now that he is getting older.

Still wouldn't be upset about taking him though.

Depending on if the Patriots get a deep threat, I might take Tom Brady over both of them.

Rodgers should be the top QB off the board. He has the most weapons, is one of the best at taking care of the ball, and can give you some addition in rushing yards/TD's. Also remember that we've scored a little over 4 more ppg with Finley in the lineup vs. without.

Love this thread too.

Rodgers over Vick because taking Vick means you have to take a quality back up early.

Without knowing my draft position yet all I can say is that I'm going to try to have two elite wrs and one elite rb after the first 3 rounds. I did that last year and did well in all of my leagues.

Curious to know if Steger is doing his league again this year?

I pick 10 and 11 and am considering McFadden if he is there. I am in a PPR league so that makes a difference. If you take him make sure you get Bush in the later rounds because there is a good chance he will get hurt. Likely I will sticking to my usual PPR plan and take two wrs with picks one and two. AJ will be gone so I will be taking two of CJ, Roddy and Fitz. I only take Fitz if they can get a halfway decent QB. I am worried a little Roddy's numbers will come down since they drafted Julio Jones.

Since I am not positive my money league is a go this year, I was thinking of asking some regulars here if they wanted to do a money league. Maybe something like a $20-$50 entry fee.

The guy I will probably have QBing all of my teams this year is Josh Freeman. Average QBs FTW.

Is there any interest in a board league? I'd probably prefer a non-money league but could be game depending on the amount. There was some interest from the Fantasy Baseball league and I'm sure it would fill easily.

Yep, I'm all about taking two young QBs around the 10-15 range that have upside. I'd rather get elite WRs and RBs.

Yurp. My strategy last year was:

R1: WR
R2: WR
R3: RB
R4: WR/Elite TE (Gates, Davis, Finley, Clark, Witten)
R5: WR/Elite TE/RB (Best Available)
R6: WR/Elite TE/RB (Best Available)
R7: WR/Elite TE/RB (Best Available)
R8: QB
R9: QB

I'll probably end up with some combination of Josh Freeman, Kevin Kolb (if he goes to AZ) and Eli Manning... Which I'm perfectly fine with. I don't mind scooping up my second RB in rounds 5-8, because there are so many guys that split now you can find a lot of steals in those rounds.

I smashed last year with that strategy. I was in 5 leagues and made the playoffs in all of them. I got raped by Mike Vick the week he had 60 or whatever it was in 3 out of the 5 leagues though, so I only made one Super Bowl.

That's my exact strategy as well. I'd probably add Matthew Stafford, Sam Bradford, Matt Ryan, and Joe Flacco to that list. I'd be happy with two of any of those guys.

Yup.

I had a lot of leagues last year with Andre Johnson, Desean Jackson, Antonio Gates and then 3x solid RBs with a solid 3rd WR and a decent starting QB.

That's going to be enough to win and/or compete in most leagues.

I was in two Y! RealGM leagues last year (invites coming soon?) and I think there even might have been a third.

I have learned to not participate in the board leagues because I quickly become uninterested since I'm also in multiple $ leagues. I'm actually dropping out of two leagues I was in last year so I can start my own league. I'm hoping to get 16 of my friends to join and make it a pretty hardcore keeper league. I'm even thinking of requiring people to pay for the first two years up front and then charge a normal entry fee each following year. That way everyone will always be invested one season beyond the present one which would hopefully prevent a lot of turnover from year to year. I even signed up for a premium league on CBS which provides a really nice draft board stickers for every player. One of the guys in the league owns a pizza restaurant/bar and I think he's going to close it down whatever night we do the draft so we can have the whole place to our selves. I'm also trying to find some sort of traveling trophy that will go to the champion each year. I'm also planning on being in a $75 league that I've been in for probably 10+ years. It's basically a bunch of older guys (including my friend's dad who is the commish) and it's easy money.

I'm only in one league and it's a keeper, so I wouldn't mind doing one on here. For fun or money I don't really care. We've been doing our keeper league for four years now so I haven't drafted a full team in a while.

I blew my team up last year because I had two studs and the rest of my team was garbage. I know have Stafford, Spiller, Best, Shonn Greene, Dez Bryant and Holmes. Taking a shot on some youth and more draft picks and seeing what I can turn it into.

I still have to decide on some other keepers, hoping for some opinions. Mike Thomas, only 24 and is currently the Jags top receiver if they don't resign Sims-Walker. Jordy Nelson, I think he could be WR3 if Jones is out. Montario Hardesty, I just don't think Hillis is anything special. Might be decent if his knee isn't a problem. Mike Goodson, If Williams is out might be a nice backup to Stewart.

I saw some people don't want to draft Foster high. Do you think Ben Tate has any potential? Anybody see Reggie Bush putting up decent numbers in the right situation?
