Starting a Team Right Now: One Offensive and Defensive Pick

Post#1 » by LUKE23 » Thu Aug 25, 2011 7:51 pm

I saw this discussion somewhere else, thought it would be a good one. You're starting a NFL team and get two picks, one offense, one defense, building a team for the long haul. Who you got? No age restrictions.

O-Rodgers
D-Suh

It would surprise me if people took any other two players.

Yeah, after thinking about it, this may not generate much discussion.

Yeah I was thinking Rodgers and Suh. Although Rodgers and Clay could be argued.

Also don't see how anyone can argue Rodgers and Suh.

Bradford would be a good choice on offense though too. He looks like he is going to be pretty damn good.

Not to be another brick in the wall, but yeah, Rodgers and Suh is probably the best choice.

I guess a better question would be who would be your second picks after Rodgers/Suh?

I think I'd go:

O - Braford
D - Matthews (I think Revis is a better player, but I would much prefer a pass rusher to a cover guy. I think Eric Berry is also in the discussion since he looked pretty beast as a rookie.)

Freeman is a good pick too. I think he's going to be a very good player for a long time.

Bradford and Freeman would probably be my next two QB's. I also like Ryan but not as much as those other two.

Defensively, it's tough. I think dominant DL and pass rushers hold more value than even the best corners. I think Von Miller is going to be an absolute monster at OLB, obviously there is Matthews, hell, Raji would probably be in my top 7ish as well.

Agreed.

I think another guy who might surprise people when he finally gets a starting gig is Matt Flynn. To me he has looked REALLY good in the opportunities he has gotten. If he gets to go to a team with a decent o-line and some weapons, I think he could put up some huge numbers.

Totally agree that pass rushers are the number one priority of a defense. Being able to pressure the QB is everything defensively.

I'd also consider Ngata too. He's not that old and dude is a monster. He's probably a better player than Raji.
