NFL Week 11 Leadup

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Tue Nov 15, 2011 2:25 pm

Not many good games this week. Games of interest:

Carolina at Detroit
San Diego at Chicago

Philly at Giants
Arizona at SF
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I could see Newton and those TEs giving the Lions problems.

Interesting stat for stat/math nerds like myself :P

The Saints have played 10 games and gone to overtime once, they have lost all 11 coin tosses, the odds of that are 1:2,048

It's tough to pick a side, as both seem equally humble, but I believe I and 90% of America might hope the Broncos defeat the Jets tonight.

I don't believe Vick will play this week, drove near Phily the other day and alot of their fans (sports radio) seem to want and just sit him to experiment with Young.

I urge you to experience the angriness that is Phily sports radio once in your life, BTW...

I know you guys like to make fun of Tebow, but I have to admit, I'm a fan. That doesn't mean I'd want him to be the QB of my favorite NFL team, but I like the guy and I think he gets way too much flack for essentially being a good person.

I like him as a person, I think he is terrible as an NFL quarterback.

He's an awful QB. Have no qualms about his personality or faith, but I also don't really care about that aspect of him.

I think he gets flack because his fans are annoying and he's a bad QB.

Can't wait to make some Tebow jokes tonight.

Here's a math question for you - what are the odds of losing THE 12th coin toss?

8-)

Well played - you'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many students got that wrong in my college stats class when posed with the question of after 10 coin flips of heads, what are the odds that the next flip is tails with many people saying 100% since there is no way the 11th time would be heads again. :)

Yeah I know lots of people get those things wrong, when I see the math questions coming around on Facebook it is always amusing that somewhere around 35-40% of people get them wrong just because they don't know/understand order of operations.

I've taken some pretty advanced math classes in my life so I wasn't going to fall for simple trickery :P

I did almost say 1/4096 but then I read your question again and realized what you were actually asking :P

I really wasn't trying to trick you...but yeah, that is why I emphasized 'THE' to make sure that wasn't the answer you would give. Although, I'd wonder what type of betting odds Vegas would put on that outcome.

I'm good at math, but bad at accounting.
