Oregon is very good, should be an entertaining game. I have no idea if their special teams are any good but even if they're horrible they're better than ours and likely the difference.

Ducks DB Cliff Harris has been booted from the team.

The Rose Bowl is January 2nd this year? Completely forgot about that. Have I mentioned that I hate the BCS yet?

I hate that there are no New Year's Day games...and the BS Champ game is the 9th. NFL wins out.

I'm fine with no New Years day games this year. It's on a Sunday afterall, so we'll have the NFL.

Edit: and I think a lot of people are going to have off that Monday. I do, so hell, I'm actually pumped about a day of bowls.

The BS championship is usually quite a bit after anyways. I feel like it has usually been on a Monday anyways?

The last few years I seem to remember the BCS championship being on a Monday.

I also have off of work on the 2nd so I don't mind the Rose Bowl being on that day, traditionally it has been on the 2nd when the 1st falls on a Sunday, this is the 5th or 6th time it isn't on the first due to the Sunday thing(plus 2 or 3 times when it was the BCS championship game).

Yup, Monday is the holiday for most people. Same with Xmas, the holiday at work is the 26th for most. A few have it the 23rd.

Given such a long time to prepare for Kelly's offense I think Bielema and Ash can come up with a good strategy to try to contain the Oregon spread attack. That and the size of our line should give Oregon fits. If we do not turn the ball over, I cant see Oregon being able to stop our balanced attack. We need guys like Kelly and Allen to come up huge in this game. They have to be able to get penetration. It is the single most important thing to stopping Oregons attack. (see Fairley and Auburn from last year and LSU entire defense this season).

Badgers get 2 All-Americans on the offense, Ball and Zeitler.

There's nothing I've seen from this defense this year that shows me they can stop a slightly above average offense. There's no chance they stop Oregon.

That describes Auburn's defense last year and yet they stopped Oregon with a month to prepare.

The good news for our defense is that we get a month to prepare, will benefit from a lot of TV timeouts, they have been fairly opportunistic with TOs, and our offense can go ball control for large stints.

The bad news for our defense is that they aren't very good at tackling in space/holding an edge/diagnosing misdirection/pursuit angles, our coverage teams will give up absurd field position, and Chryst will abandon the running game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters leading to multiple 3 and outs.

Realistically, we need a few TOs and for special teams to show up HUGE.

I know it's crazy, but I'd consider switching to a 3/4 type scheme for one game. Nzegwu is awful... at everything. Particularly at holding an edge and finishing plays when they're in front of him. We have decent depth at DT, and LB is clearly the strength of the unit. Rotate 3 space eaters upfront to occupy/hold their offensive linemen and insert Connor O'Neil as another OLB opposite Taylor or Borland. He at least has speed to the edge.

I fully expect this game to be in the 40s for both teams. Both D's are awful

Working in Madison today, listening to Rome and I keep hearing the updates that Paul Chryst interviewed with Pitt and Dayne Crist will be making his decision between Wisconsin and Kansas real soon. Did Chryst interview with anyone other than Pitt? I remember reading Illinois was interested but I haven't heard anything since.
