I have to give them credit for firing Angelo before Lovie. Angelo was definitely the root cause of their troubles. He was an incredibly awful drafter. I'd give Lovie some time with a better GM. I'd also try to keep Martz as OC, Cutler actually looked pretty good until he hurt his thumb. They better hire the right GM because their talent is getting old really fast. They also have to figure out what they are going to do with Forte.

He's been there since 2006, and I have to think they are one of the worst drafting teams in that time span, in addition to some just horrendous FA moves (Berrian, M. Williams to name two). Outside of AD/Allen, they really haven't added any long-term studs in that time frame (maybe Harvin if he can stay on the field, Greenway and Henderson were also very solid). The rest of their talented players were vets that were already there (K. Williams, P. Williams, Winfield, Hutchinson).

That team is in for minimum three year rebuild before they are back in the playoffs. They have no offensive line, no WR's, no secondary, and AD is going to be coming off major knee surgery. And we don't even know if Ponder is a passable starter.

Besides that, he's done well.

Yeah, I'm glad to see the Vikes will be more of the same, which at their best has been really good but not sustainably so, and which at their worst has been really terrible. They probably could have done worse, but I'm glad they're not getting Polian or poaching one of our guys.

Since the Queens are staying internal, hopefully that means they continue to build around Ponder.

Martz is out, citing 'philosophical differences.' Nietzche v. Kant I presume.

That's great news that Martz is out. Not that Cutler can't figure out a more traditional offense quickly, but there is going to be ANOTHER season of relearning/retooling.

I think Martz really had that offense humming for better or for worse before Cutler went down this season. I realize there are pretty big issues with the 7-step drops and other things he wants to do, but I think if they want to compete next year, he should still be the OC.

I wonder what they'll do about Forte. He was the one piece they had who really made sense in Martz's schemes.

Honestly, hiring a GM would probably just cause more trouble. There is absolutely no way Jones takes a back seat to managing his team, so a GM would just cause more friction and problems. The Cowboys are quickly becoming the Raiders under Al Davis, except with a nice, shiny, new stadium.

LMAO @ the Chargers keeping Turner. That would have been easily the most desirable destination for Fisher, imo. Turner is a great OC but will never get it done as a head coach.

Funny how Norv Turner continues to keep his job and the Chargers fired Shottenheimer after winning 14 games.

I'd probably trade down if I was the Vikings. Then again I have always been a fan of trading down if I am the type of team like the Colts, Vikings, etc. that needs a ton of help to get better.

The other day when I was talking about the Colts, I suggested they should try to get a 'Ricky Williams' type deal for the Luck pick... so attempt to get 8-10 picks for it. Then in addition to that trade Manning for something like a 1st, 3rd and 5th or two 1sts. (I think both of those guys might potentially be able to get more than that)

Then invest several draft picks into rebuilding the core of your team while signing Matt Flynn to be your QB and to develop with the young talent you get through the draft.

They could have something like 17-20 picks this year and 12-15 picks next year. Add that into the possibility of undrafted free agent guys, trading veterans like Wayne, Freeney, Clark, etc. for picks and I think an NFL team could be rebuilt pretty damn quick while having a potentially very gooD QB at the helm in Flynn.
