I figured we needed a thread just to talk about this game. Keep the offseason stuff to the other thread.

I'm bummed. I don't think I've been so disappointed since SB XXXII.

That hail mary destroyed the morale going into half time. Defense was pathetic and all our flaws came out magnified while our offense struggled

I was only 6 or so for XXXII, so considering the expectations, this might be the worst Packers loss for me.

The Arizona game, the 4th and 26, the Favre Giants game and now this one have all been kick to the nuts. That 4th and 26 is still the worst but man the expectations I had for this team after that regular season, and for them to come out this flat is just...I'm at a lost for words

I thought a championship would make me not so disappointed if this year ended poorly. Nope. On the flip side I've seen 2 titles in my life and I've seen our rivals win none. Sucks today but it could be worse.

The thing that keeps me from breaking down is just the fact that pretty much nothing went right. They had flashes of potential but it never actually all came together. Unlike the Arizona game a couple years where one or two things were the main culprit, everything failed this game. When Rodgers missed Finley when he was wide open, it was pretty clear that it was not our day.

Divisional round in 2004 against the Eagles (4th and 26) and NFCC in 2008 are pretty close. I guess my expectations were higher for this team than those.

I am not as mad as I thought. First, I kind of expected to lose. Second, we were outplayed and outcoached, we had no business winning that game. Last, the 49er's would have destroyed us.

Losing a SB hurts (Denver) , losing in the final moments sucks (NFC Championship), but this was just kind of like. "oh well."

Now, we can't use smoke and mirrors and hopefully we correct our holes.

Good thing we didn't go 16-0 in the regular season, then this team would go down in history forever.

I guess its better than losing in the NFC championship or Superbowl I guess, maybe.....

Most devastating loss that I can remember I thought they overachieved in 07 so that loss didn't sting as much.

Can't say I'm surprised, to be honest.

Already started to hear people use the Philbin family tragedy as an excuse.

The NFCCG in 08 and 4th and 26 were still far worse than this.

This sucks, but I had a bad feeling about this defense all year long. If we lost in the NFCCG or the Super Bowl, this would've probably been the worst loss I've experienced.

I'm not mad, disappointed, or have lost hope in our team to get back to the SB in the future. 2007 NFCCG, 4th and 26, Moss mooning us, Vick in 2002, all were worse than this IMO. I'm still high off SB 45.

I was kind of expecting this all season because it was just too much to ask of our offense to keep performing like super men every week. We needed our defense to atleast be average so we could survive a performance like this ala @ CHI in the NFCCG last year.

But I ain't even mad

There will be lots of spin. Philbin will be number 1. Resting Rodgers is another.

There should be no excuses. And lots of blame to go around.

BUT this team still has tons of talent. We'll be right in the mix next year.

If Capers decides to retire I'll chip in for his gold watch.

In a one game elimination in the NFL, I'm not shocked. I wouldn't have predicted this, but I'm not shocked.

You know that in any game you can lay a fumble egg or make some mistakes. We knew Eli would have a fairly big game.

There were 2 things I was angry about in this one, only:

1. The strategy of our defense on the hail mary.
2. The lack of urgency in the 2nd half (the entire thing).

I was always supporting McCarthy slow-playing with leads during the regular season, but even when down 10, knowing you're a bit of a shootout team (and thinking you're the better one), you need to have 10 possessions in the 2nd half, not 5. Too many runs with no urgency. If you go 3 and out, at least it only took 40 seconds off the clock throwing in a hurry-up fashion.

It's one thing if you're expecting a 13-10 game to hope for it to come down to the late possessions, but in a game like that, running the ball as much as they did, you're banking on not making a single mistake. I'd play real fast and allow myself leeway for a mistake or two.

I wouldn't be as upset if they lost 42 to 35 in a shootout.

But to play that badly on offense just sucks.
