Love the pick. Was really pushing for Perry or Upshaw here, and the Packers went with the player they liked better with both on the board.

I would love for us to move up in the 2nd round to get Still.

Can't help but like the upside. Always going to compare him with the other pass rushers taken before him, though. It would have cost nothing to move up.

I like that we went for ceiling. Upshaw will probably be better next year, but Perry's got a higher ceiling. 270 pound guy running 4.5 and 40 inch vertical. Guy is an athlete. With our defensive coaches, I like it.

Is he really 270 lbs.? Can you play OLB at 270, or is he gonna have to slim down?

Yeah, so is he going to cut 10 pounds and play OLB, or gain weight for DE? Or play OLB at 270?

I like it. Had my eye on him. Unsurprising, of course, that they go with an OLB.

Like it fine for the upside. Sucks that he's fairly raw though. We could use a more finished product next year.

Solid pick regarding value and position, but I hope TT doesn't think this solves our pass rushing problems on D. Of course a true DL who can occupy blockers is required for that, and he didn't really address it in free agency. I hope he moves up for Worthy in the 2nd round, especially with the price it's costing to ascend.

All I want him to do is shove the LT into the QB and play the run. That's it for next year. He can do that at 270.

Reminds me of Tony Bennett who we took at 18 back in 1990

Here is an article to get people hyped up.

Although Nick Perry is not an elite prospect in the mold of Von Miller, he is nevertheless a strong prospect that SackSEER likes more than any other in this class, regardless of draft position.

SackSEER's optimism for Perry comes from his outstanding combine performance, where he scored highly in all of the drills that make up the explosion index. Perry recorded a 4.64 forty-yard dash, a 38.5" vertical leap, and a 10'4" broad jump. Perry's vertical leap and broad jump are a full standard deviation above the mean performance for edge rushers, and his forty-yard dash is nearly as good. These numbers are all the more impressive considering that Perry has above-average bulk at 270 pounds. Interestingly, Perry performed poorly in the short shuttle drill and slightly below average on the three-cone, so he is a great test case for SackSEER 2.0's methodological decision to drop the agility drills.

Perry's college production is not outstanding, but it is good enough. His sack production came in peaks and valleys: he recorded an impressive 9.0 sacks as a freshman, bottomed out at 4.0 sacks as a sophomore, and bounced back to another 9.0 sack outing as a junior. A great sign of pro success is the ability to dominate early in college, much like Terrell Suggs and Aldon Smith did, but Perry's production is not quite as good as Suggs' or Smith's. Perry's pass defensed rate is just average.

Wow, pretty crazy athlete. Very happy with the pick considering the doom and gloom potential we had going into the draft.

What was Perry's 10? Isn't that what made Ted erect about Clay?

"The 6-foot-3, 271-pounder had a 1.57 10-yard split and a 4.64 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, a 38 1/2 inch vertical leap, 35 reps of 225 pounds, 10-4 broad jump, a 4.66 in the 20-yard shuttle and a 7.25 in the three-cone drill. "
