Nick Perry USC - DE/OLB 6'3" 271

4.64 SEC (40 yard - Top Performer)
35 REPS (Bench Press)
38.5 INCH (Vertical Jump - Top Performer)
124.0 INCH (Broad Jump - Top Performer)
7.25 SEC (3 cone drill)
4.66 SEC (20 yard shuttle)

STRENGTHS Perry has a very strong base and balance that helps him keep momentum toward the backfield regardless of his initial move. Perry plays with good leverage and surprising athleticism for his size. He has a good burst off the ball and a natural feel for disrupting plays. He chases laterally down the line well and is a sound tackler when he reaches the ball. He has fluid hips and feet in the open field. He will be reliable even as a rookie to set the edge and defend the run with strength.

WEAKNESSES Perry can get tied up on double teams and has trouble in a tight area. This would bode well for a move to outside backer, where he can rush with more space. It remains to be seen if Perry can cover in the flat. He's a thick player but still a bit of a positional tweener, and doesn't quite have the strength of most defenders his size.

Jerel Worthy MSU - DE/DT 6'2" 308
Image
5.08 SEC (40 yard)
28.5 INCH (Vertical Jump)
107.0 INCH (Broad Jump)
7.60 SEC (3 cone drill)
4.56 SEC (20 yard dash)

NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Worthy is very thick and powerful throughout his upper body and has thigh power that helps him blow back interior linemen off the snap. He has a surprising burst for a player his size and is capable of knifing and slanting the line to get into the backfield almost instantaneously. He is a leverage-savvy player who understands how to win with either his quickness or bull rush.
WEAKNESSES Worthy gets upright off the snap and really has trouble if he doesn't win with a burst off the snap. He struggles in space and has a difficult time breaking down his weight to fit on a ball carrier. He can get neutralized at times by double teams, not out of a lack of strength or talent, but because of poor effort and a breakdown of technique.

Casey Hayward Vanderbilt - DB 5'11" 185
Image
4.57 SEC (40 yard)
19 REPS (Bench Press)
34.0 INCH (Vertical Jump)
119.0 INCH (Broad Jump)
6.76 SEC (3 cone drill)
3.90 SEC (20 yard shuttle)
11.10 SEC (60 yard shuttle)

NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Hayward can diagnose plays and be in position from the get-go. He will be physical when reacting to pass plays and has the speed to cover for extended periods of time in man coverage. He is a lanky player who can extend and secure interceptions when covering close. He is a reliable tackler when around the ball.
WEAKNESSES Hayward is a decent player in zone looks but not the quickest reactor. He trusts his speed too much at times, which can get him in trouble when he plays too far off the receiver. He is a smooth athlete but not very quick twitched.

Mike Daniels Iowa e - DT/DE 6'0" 291
Image
Only did interviews during combine due to surgery
NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Daniels is quick off the ball and uses his small frame to work between blockers. He has the instincts to understand schemes and work against them, and he is strong enough, despite his relative lack of size, to engage and then shed a blocker to burst to the play. He is flexible and an overall active interior player.
WEAKNESSES Daniels is undersized and gets engulfed by bigger blockers and double teams. His strength and effort will suffice, but bigger players have a clear advantage on him at times. He will have to be placed in good spots and schemes to be effective inside in the NFL.

Jerron McMillian Maine - DB 5'11" 205
Image
4.56 SEC (40 yard)
17 REPS (Bench Press)
36.5 INCH (Vertical Jump - Top Performer)
120.0 INCH (Broad Jump)
6.69 SEC (3 cone drill)
4.22 SEC (20 yard shuttle)

NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS McMillian brings a physical presence to the back end of the defense, reacts to passes well and can force his body hard in one direction to make a play toward the ball, much like he does in his reactions to the run. He is quick to diagnose run and pass, and reacts to the run much better coming toward the line of scrimmage than he does moving away. McMillian is NFL-ready in supporting the run.
WEAKNESSES McMillian can struggle in some of his transitional movements when playing the pass. He looks to support the run first and this can get him to bite at times.

Terrell Manning NC State - LB 6'2" 240
Image
4.79 SEC (40 yard)
22 REPS (Bench Press)
32.5 INCH (Vertical Jump)
114.0 INCH (Broad Jump)
7.18 SEC (3 cone drill)
4.43 SEC (20 yard shuttle)

NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Manning reads and works off the movements of offensive linemen well. He excels as a run defender where he has the strength hold his ground and keep plays inside of him, or rework back out to run down ball carriers. He takes on blocks well and shows obvious strength when shedding them. He is aware of his size and keeps himself clean of blocks consistently, and is a physical player who can maul tight ends when aligned over them to disrupt their timing. He has a good short area burst to close on the ball and displays the body control to keep his feet churning. He is productive in the backfield, with four sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 2011.
WEAKNESSES Manning has a decent frame but could have trouble getting the same type of production as an edge rusher at 230 pounds in the NFL. He doesn't show the same burst when chasing down runs to the outside that he does in short areas in the backfield, and he will have trouble keeping faster runners inside. He is only average in both zone and man coverage, and often looks stiff in his hips.

Andrew Datko Florida State - T 6'6" 315
Image
5.32 SEC (40 yard)
29.5 INCH (Vertical Jump)
100.0 INCH (Broad Jump)
7.71 SEC (3 cone drill)
4.54 SEC (20 yard shuttle)
NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Datko is fast off the line of scrimmage and immediately fits on his blocks. He is not an explosive mover, but he can stay with his blocks once on them. In pass protection he can struggle at times but usually blocks long enough to get the job done. He makes up for his average athletic ability by being technically sound and understanding how to use his hands and feet to keep defenders occupied. He works hard to keep defenders moving in the run game and, despite his weaknesses, is a "get the job done" player at the end of plays and games.
WEAKNESSES Datko can be stiff at times and struggles noticeably with certain movements. While he is an effective blocker, it is usually not pretty. When he has to move a lot, inconsistencies in his play can show up. He does fit on blocks OK, but it is often a struggle for him to get there. He is a catcher as a blocker, but it has served him well up to this point.

BJ Coleman Tennessee-Chattanooga - QB 6'3" 235
Image
109.0 INCH (Broad Jump)
7.07 SEC (3 cone drill)
4.38 SEC (20 yard shuttle)
NFL.com wrote:ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Coleman has a quick set-up and plays with a good sense of urgency. He is athletic when scrambling and can get the ball to receivers both in short and long passing situations. He is a leader and makes good decisions. Coleman can really drive the ball and shows NFL-level zip on his throws.
WEAKNESSES Coleman has struggled with his route progression and locating second receivers. He is good pocket awareness but can be rattled by pressure. He will occasionally hold on to the ball and take sacks rather than distribute to viable outlets.

Addressed need early, but went with upside and potential late. Worried about who, outside of worthy/perry, will be players next year.

Daniels and Manning will be contributors. DB's normally take a little bit to transition, so I wouldn't expect a lot out of Hayward/McMillan.

I think Hayward in the nickel would be nice, or dime packages..

Hayward will play, wouldn't be shocked if he was the nickleback next season. All of the sefety's are young so McMillan will have as good of chance as any to get some time.

I just love that TT drafts very fast, athletic guys capable of learning what the coaches teach them...intelligence and character do matter.

wouldn't exactly call McMillan brilliant or high character.

Our offense just scored the 2nd most points in NFL history and is returning pretty much completely intact. We don't even need all of these draft picks to contribute this upcoming year, if 1 or 2 of them can help get additional pressure on the QB our defense is going to improve exponentially.

I give this an A easily. Someone is going to pan out and contribute this year, not sure who or how, but there is no way our defense isn't going to improve.

I don't even remember the last time I wasn't thrilled with a Packers draft. I even liked the Harrell pick at the time. Probably have to go all the way back to the Sherman years, which were all embarrassingly bad drafts.

Yeah this is an easy A for me.

A-

Great draft, but I would've loved a little help on the O-line.

I gave this draft an A. TT drafted traded up 3 times, drafted the BPA and they all are positions of need. I'm really liking the Worthy move.

We needed defense and we drafted defense, hard to give anything other than an A. Obviously it will be 2-3 years before we really know but so far I really like this draft.

A+

We got guys that will help immediately and I'd say 4 guys with super high upside.

Love this draft. Defense was our biggest weakness and TT wasn't messing around. O-line needs help, but we have some young guys there now that TT probably has faith in. Sherrod must be getting close to health and TT has faith in him, so I am fine with just one O-linemen in the draft. Can't wait for the preseason!

I really liked TT’s aggressiveness and breaking his typical strategy with the trade ups..
We got great talent but most have questions…

Perry has to transition to OLB. Before draft he had said he preferred to play 4-3 DE.
Worthy will play DT plenty but he also has to transition to DE. Has some “take plays off”.
Hayward is probably the most ready to plug & play.
Injuries = Datko, Manning, Daniels(who also lacks ideal size)
McMillian had legal issues.

Most likely none of these issues will hinder but also no slam dunk.
