Didn't see a topic so I thought I'd get things started...

My thoughts on the game?

What should have been the NFCCG

The OL is going to get tested hard right out of the gate.

Excited. Would be a great win to start the year.

Really rough game to start out with. I hope that Newhouse doesn't crap the bed. This is definitely a statement game for both teams. I hope we kick the **** out of them.

The big thing is give Newhouse help over there, either a TE or Kuhn etc. I think we can score on their secondary, but I don't expect the team to look sharp early and our D is going to get gashed by runs between the 20s. If we can't get an early lead it could be an ugly game.

yeah, they have a good OL but they have an inexperienced RG this year

they have the same exact defense from last year and their front 7 is as good as anyone's... though, their secondary can be scored on if our OL can somehow hold up their pass rush

we won't be able to run on them at all... I fear we will be one dimensional and Rodgers and the WRs having to be perfect as I see them being able to control the clock with their ground game

I have no idea what to expect. Pack could easily dominate or be humbled.
Big test for our run D & OLine.
Newhouse will give up sacks & penalties. Lang may have to replace and also be beaten but not as badly.
We'll have no ground game but Green may be big on screens / Cobb on quick inside slants.
They will run successfully wearing down our D - BUT Alex Smith is OUR secret weapon for one pick six.

Agreed. Lambeau in the early season is always a big boost though. It will be interesting to see the warm welcome Randy Moss receives. Can't wait for football!

Time to get this **** going.

I feel good about this year, but starting off with a big win over San Fran would be huge. Starting off with a loss would be depressing because I have grown accustomed to not losing.

I'm going to try and enjoy this season. I didn't last year and haven't in a while. Not even sure I know how to do it.

The regular season has become a 16 day opportunity for me to hope for minimal injuries. Since I expect the Packers to win the conference as long as they're healthy, all I really want out most Sundays is to finish the day without a key guy going down for the season. All I care about is having a healthy team during the playoffs.

I get that. I definitely feel like I was conditioned to not care about injuries as much after what happened two years ago. As long as we're in a good rhythm at the end and Rodgers is standing up, I feel really good about our chances.

In general, I'm really looking forward to watching this young defense grow over the course of the season. I could see us being still **** in the first four games, and developing into something special by the time the playoffs show up.

It took me a few minutes to come up with a response to your question and it occurred to me that if there is something I really anticipate watching this season it's the young players on defense. I'm not expecting much, but if one or two emerge as legit contributors it could mean the difference between the Owl and another early exit.

IMO the stakes are pretty high with this. If say three of those guys are playing well by the end of the year, it could tip the scales toward us having a good defense not just this year but for the next few years. If none of them step up (pretty much inconceivable given Ted's draft record), that's a whole draft class down the tubes. The nice thing is I think all six of those guys have a legitimate chance to be something important, to say nothing of Moses, who sometimes looked like the best out of all of them. I even like what I saw out of Ross.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't enjoy it, but there is one drawback from watching a team with such high expectations (either an Owl or its a disappointing season), when you expect a win every Sunday you're going to be more upset at losses than happy with wins. That said, it beats the alternative handily, which is watching a **** team week in and week out.

I'm interested for a lot of things this year, the young D, can Rodgers get even close to last years production, how the team responds to last years playoff disappointment, etc.
