Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
Well, pretty much a must win game. Long odds to make the playoffs from 2-4, especially considering the overall strength of the NFC.
Texans have the #2 scoring offense and the #2 scoring defense so far. It's in Houston. All signs point to us getting owned, which is probably why it will be a close game.
Hopefully the team is preparing for this one like a playoff game, because essentially, it is.

I've come to expect the unexpected.
Win
Win
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
If Raji is out for this game I cannot imagine us even being close. Playing a 3-4 and missing your NT against the best running team in the league just seems like it would result in getting crushed.
But like MD and LUKE23 said... that means it will probably be close.

It's going to be interesting to see at what point Capers starts feeling some heat. By my count, we've basically been bad defensively for 20 of the last 22 games. 800 yards passing the last two games. QB's aren't having a problem picking apart this scheme.

Hopefully soon. Not saying I want him fired or anything, but maybe it will get his ass in gear. I think there are some adjustments we need to make that we aren't just because we "like" or feel "loyalty" towards certain guys.
Charles Woodson cannot cover anyone man-to-man anymore. He isn't a very good corner at this point. Do what we should have done at the start of the year and just move him to safety full time. He can still play, he just isn't really fit to be a corner anymore. I think Tramon, Shields and Hayward (and House when he returns) is good enough at CB.
AJ Hawk is poop. He is a mediocre starter at best and last year I honestly thought Francois was a better player when he was in the games. I'd put him back in.
So overall I think those two things hurt the defense... and then on top of that he (and McCarthy offensively for that matter) seem to be insanely slow to make any sort of adjustment based on what is happening in the game this year. It's very disappointing... I'm not sure why we have to wait until halftime to make adjustments. If something isn't working, stop **** doing it and try something else.

My enthusiasm for this team is in free fall. Almost like the Favre years post Super Bowl XXXII.

Hopefully the Texans destroy the NYJ and come home on a short week w/ not as much urgency...
I think 2-4 is inevitable

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
In the NFC we can probably only afford to lose 6 games. Assuming we lose next Sunday, we'll have to go 9-2 to get to 10-6. With road games against the Giants and Bears, you are possibly looking at getting to 6 losses. If they can't win the 4 games following the Houston game, then I will say the season is probably over. I just don't think this particular team has the mettle to turn it around.

Defense creates turnovers its not a crippling problem. Defense blows at least three pics like they did Sunday and its a major problem.
I have no doubt this will be a close game. Got to slow the Texans' running game even if it means giving up a big play or two. TOP disparity if its significant will be huge. Gotta convert third and shorts on offense as well.
It may be close, but if we don't do either it will be a 7-13 point loss where we never really had a chance.
No sympathy on the Raji injury as he was driven five yards off the line on that play. If that's gonna happen he won't even help versus Houston.

Much, much worse. At least then teams like the Moss Vikings and Martz Rams emerged. God forbid the Niners become an even above average passing offense...
Funny how these seemingly long-lasting windows can shut suddenly.

True, but, and I said this last year, I hate relying on turnovers to stop teams. I realize some teams are better than others at forcing them, but you're still going to see stretches where they don't come.

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
Tate is probably going to miss tonight's game. Foster is already questionable. Its a short week for them. These are all good things.
They are a very good team but the stats are skewed because they played Jax, Mia, and Tenn so far. They almost blew their lead against the one team they did play in Den.
I don't see this game as unwinnable.

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
I think this team has to hit rock bottom, have everyone write them off, before making a run and becoming a dangerous 5 or 6 seed.
Getting blown out in this game - like 40-17 or something - would accomplish that. Win next week and all is well in Packer nation.
So, um, next week is a win-win situation?

Foster always seems to be questionable. The short week does help us a bit though.

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
With Benson out this week and his future unknown, Butler on 1250 this afternoon suggested that the Packers "need a splash" and said the Packers should call up the titans and offer them Finley and whoever for CJ2k. Interesting

I'm guessing he is still guaranteed a bunch of money? I'd rather not have his contract on the books.

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
Typically they get their signing bonus up front so its not so bad. I'd be game depending on what the money looked like. But if the money was that good they wouldn't get a yes.
And Thompson would NEVER do that. Especially mid-season.

Re: Week 6: Texans Lead-Up
How the **** would Chris Johnson help us?
11 carries, 4 yards
8 carries, 17 yards
14 carries, 24 yards
25 carries, 141 yards
15 carries, 24 yards
It's not like our offensive line is good enough to open holes for him either.
