I skimmed that article and was shocked by the low numbers.

Does it mention anything about how this is a marketing campaign to get women more interested in the league? I recall reading an article 2 years ago or so mentioning that that was the main reason they do all of this.

Good post and agree completely that this campaign is BS. Saw a good thread on reddit a few weeks back that of the money that is actually collected by the Breast Cancer Awareness folk, something around only 50% of that money is actually used on breast cancer awareness.

'Merica, where even charitable organizations for cancer have an enormous, bulging monstrosity of a seedy underbelly.

I'm in a government accounting class right now and we are doing a case study on Komen. Basically, the BBB for non-profits require 65% of revenues go to programs. They manipulated their numbers so that it looked like it was 75%, when really they were hiding costs and liabilities. They were actually closer to 66-67% and very close to the BBB giving them a failed rating if not for them faking numbers.

If you want to help with breast cancer, find a lab that's working on it and donate to their research directly. This pink campaign is ridiculous.

I was laughing at Pittsburgh for not punting at the end.

Great win for Tennessee. For all the flak he takes, I thought Chris Johnson looked pretty explosive despite the fact he was running behind a pretty garbahj OL. There was a rumor Tennessee was looking to deal him, and the guys on NFLN were saying Green Bay and Arizona should look into it. Not that it would ever happen, but if there ever was an ultimate boom/bust move to be made that would be it.

Yeah, I cant believe they didnt punt it there, considering how far it was and the time left on the clock.

I think the vast majority of Johnson's contract is base salary from here on out. Like close to 8 figures this year, then 8 figures the next two years. Not worth it.

That article in the OP is only the 2nd most **** up thing I've read on the subject this week. Did you know that almost none of the money raised by Livestrong goes towards cancer research and hasn't since 2005? It goes to 'awareness', 'awareness' being raising Armstrong's public profile so he can jet set around the globe with other wealthy people while charging six figures for appearance fees and millions for sponsorships.

Is this the article you're referring to?

http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-ad ... l?page=all

ETA: Because, if it is, I think you're right to mention the scientific research point (which is mind-boggling), but your description that the money goes to "raising Amstrong's public profile" is a bit misleading. It certainly states that Armstrong benefits tremendously from being connected to Livestrong. And, it also claims that much of the money Livestrong spends goes towards administrative expenses. But, it doesn't say that he's leeching off of the organization for his own benefit. I think it's more accurate to state that the article implies that there is a symbiotic relationship between the organization and Armstrong.

That is the article. I hope you guys read it.

If the money they pulled in went towards scientific research I couldn't care nearly as much regarding Armstrong's profile (and subsequent profits). Means to an end, etc.

But yesterday, on nationally syndicated radio I heard Andrew Sciliano fill in for Jim Rome and do an entire segment on how even if LA cheated he's still a hero for what he's doing for cancer. He used the words cancer research multiple times in the segment. Based on the article above and anecdotal evidence, I think that's where people assume their money goes when they contribute to Livestrong. I did. And it's total bullsh*t.

The strahan-eli segment on fox has a very... brokeback mountain vibe to it.

A buddy posted Mark Sanchez's YTD stats - QB Rating 66.6 - 6.6 Yds/A, 6TDs, 6 INTs
Luckily, Tebow is on that team.

Loved watching Jim Schwartz challenge a forward pass that was about 2 yards forward hoping for a fumble.
