Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
You'd be hard pressed to win an argument if your take was that the Jags were not the worst team in the NFL. They are currently last in PPG, last in YPG on offense, and 25th in PPG, 28th in YPG on defense. Essentially, they do nothing well. Additionally, MJD is questionable for next week at the moment.
At home, I just see no way we lose this game. I'd hold out anyone that isn't 100% and get them healthy for Zona.

W and there is no doubt about it.
Starters wont play most of the 4th quarter.
I just hope that this isnt one of those freak injury games.

It will be interesting to see of Raji, Perry, Jennings are back or if they are held out another week.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
Hopefully Detroit beats Chicago tonight. Minny is vs. TB and Chicago is vs. Panthers in week 8. Seems like neither of those teams ever plays an extremely strong opponent.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
Some in the media have been talking about taking Cobb out of kickoffs and punt returns because he is now more valuable as a receiver. I agree with that but probably won't happen until next year when we can draft someone for that. It's nice to have a wildcard as a returner but seeing him taking those shots when he refuses to fair catch makes me cringe.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
Returning punts and kickoffs is a signficiant part of his value, imo, and represent great opportunities to get him in the open field where he's so dangerous. I wouldn't take him off those unless we had somebody who was close to as good as he is.
I agree that we probably look at somebody to do that this offseason. Honestly... Honey Badger, anybody?

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
I know we've already tried Shields in that role, but maybe he can develop it. He could easily be only #4 on the CB depth chart for a while now (Williams, Hayward, House).

I was just looking over our roster and checking out our rookies, second year guys and third year guys...
I think a lot of us take Ted Thompson for granted sometimes. Best GM in the NFL by a pretty wide margin right now, IMO.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
Could Jarrett Boykin take over some of the return duties? I'd say Alex Green, but we kind of need him at RB at the moment since Benson will still be out for a while. Otherwise I agree that Cobb too big of a threat to take him out of the return game completely.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
I would be fine with taking him off kick returns, but I want to keep him in there for punts. The split second decision making and ability to hold on to the ball is too important to pull a sure handed and explosive guy like Cobb off of. The punt returns really have the potential to give us the field position advantage, where in the kick returns, I feel like Cobb rarely gets the ball past the 30 (could be wrong), and the ball is usually kicked out of the endzone or downed anyway.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
CobbWatch: Cobb caught two touchdowns as he continues establishing himself in the Packers' three-receiver sets. We've already noted the 39-yard score. In the third quarter, his outside-in move in the end zone turned around cornerback Trumaine Johnson and got him wide open for a 5-yard score. Cobb caught all nine passes Rodgers targeted him on, the second time this season he has caught 100 percent of the passes thrown his way. No other NFL receiver has done that (minimum eight targets) once this season, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Re: Week 8: Jax Lead-Up
I see no reason to play Jennings regardless of how he may feel. Give him the next 2 off plus the bye. We are seeing what life without Jennings and Driver will look like on offense and it looks very very good. Hell yesterday we saw what it would look like without Finley too. Don't get me wrong, I want Jennings back on the field this year, you can never have too many weapons. But there is no way he's back next year.

Yeah, I am never making the mistake of questioning what Ted does ever again. The white wizard is on a whole different level than GM's around the league. He rarely misses in the draft and is a wise spender-- I am very interested to see what happens with Jennings and Finley, but whatever Ted decides, I will trust him.
We are truly spoiled.

So do you let Greg walk or do we try a trade, whether it be quickly before the deadline or in the off-season via a tag and trade? Jets, Dolphins, Chiefs, among others make some sense.
I think you could easily get a team to give up either a 2nd rounder or a couple of 3rds for GJ, otherwise we'd have to wait for the comp pick 3rd rounder a year later.
On the other hand, if we re-structure Woodson and Driver retires I would still tag and keep Greg.

He was on crutches yesterday in the OAK game... no way he was playing this week
Let's just hope the defense doesn't make Chad Henne and whatever RB they have out there into pro bowlers

Nate Kaeding cut by the Chargers... there's one guy I would want over Crosby when healthy. Can we afford two kickers?

This should be one of the biggest blowouts of the year.
That's why it worries me.
