2013 NFL Draft - Round 1 Discussion

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Wed Apr 24, 2013 5:27 pm

I'll open this up tomorrow afternoon sometime to discuss the actual picks as they are made. We'll of course have a separate thread for the Packs pick.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Should be a fun one with so much unpredictability even in the top 10.

It would be incredible, though unlikely, if a QB wasn't selected until tomorrow.

We want QB's to go early and often! Hopefully two teams bite on Smith and Barkley, pushing a stud back to us at 26.

I'll be stunned if Smith, Nassib, and Barkley aren't all off the board by the time we pick. Teams without good QBs can never resist potentially passing up their next franchise player.

Shefter with a good point:

CLEV, BUF, NYJ all have made inquiries about moving back into back portion of 1st round. 1st-rd QBs get 5-yr deals; 2nd-rd QBs 4-yr deals.

It wouldn't shock me if four QBs went in the 1st. And I'd LOOOOOOOOOOL.

Hey, if it happens, i can't really blame teams.

Sure they'd likely be reaching, but if you don't have a quality QB in today's NFL, your team is largely irrelevant. So there is extreme pressure for some teams to find a QB and that can lead to rolling the dice by drafting a guy higher than he really should go. If you get lucky and hit big though, it's a franchise changing move.

Oh I know, it would just be crazy. I can't remember a weaker QB draft. Whatever happens, I can't wait to read about the guys TT goes with.

Even better if outside of Tavon Austin, a RB/WR/QB isn't selected until tomorrow.

Well, I made it 4 minutes listening to ESPN's coverage, hopefully I can stream NFL Network.

It's fine but I would be a little bitter if I were a Chiefs fan.

I just think of all the high offensive tackles taken that remained on bad teams for years.

And there's a trade with Miami. That's interesting. Johnson?
