Roster speculation

With the drafted & un-drafted rookies selected/signed most everyone who will make the final roster is with us now. Even if a vet FA is signed and plays well, odds are TT will cut them like Muir last pre-season in favor of the younger player.
OFFENSE-24
GB has typically kept 24 or 25 offensive players on 53 man roster. I see 24 this year.
OL-8
GB has typically kept 9 OL on 53 man roster until last season when TT kept only 7 OL – the same number that are usually active on the 46 man game day roster. He’ll likely keep 8 this year depending on rookie development, veteran injury recovery and talent at other positions. IF TT wants 5 TE or 6 WR or 4 RB this year the OL has to give up a spot.
The 3 interior starters- Sitton Lang EDS - are all that’s set. Bulaga is a starting OT but whether he’s on left or right depends on the rest of the OL candidates. IF Bulaga moves to LT Barclay is likely starting RT. If Bulaga stays RT Barclay is almost certain to stick as backup at RT & RG. That’s 5 guys. Will the two 4th rdrs be like which past 4th rdr – successful like Sitton or bust like Barbre? Probably somewhere in between to begin. So unless one or both clearly stink – both are almost a lock for roster spot b/c they would likely be signed away by another team if GB put them on the PS. I doubt either are the starting LT as Tretter is already targeted for C & Bakhtiara may be destined for G. This means unless VanRoten clearly out- performs them he’ll be cut and Pack will rely on two rookies as the interior reserves with Barclay. That’s 7 guys and still no LT. Newhouse, Sherrod, Datko, Bulaga and Bakhtiara are the candidates. Pick your poison. We’ve debated this plenty
RB/FB-3/1
GB has kept 3 RB & 1 FB for a couple years since the 3 FB year of Hall, Quinn & Kuhn. Lacy & Franklin are locks. Harris out played Starks & Green last season and that’s the likely result of TC competition among the 3. TT won’t keep a mediocre 4th RB over a 6th WR or extra TE. And Kuhn sticks one more year.
WR-6
TT likes his WR. He’s kept 6 and likely will again. Jordy, JJ & Cobb are the guys. Then 2nd yr guys Boykins & Ross and 7th rdrs Johnson & Dorsey. Unless Boykin regresses like Biodrel did last year he’ll be #4. Will Ross prove himself as THE Return guy? If not he’s gone. Johnson & Dorsey will likely be tried as KPR but have no previous experience. Guessing Ross claims KPR and CJ beats out Dorsey who goes to PS.
TE-4
TT loves TE & ILB b/c their size/speed profile is ideal for ST. Last year he kept 5. Finley is uncontested starter. Mulligan owns a spot as a blocker. IF Quarless is 100% he’s #2 – if not he could be cut. IF Williams doesn’t make a jump he’s likely gone. Taylor was exceptional on ST. I expect he sticks and the battle is between Q & DJ as I expect only 4 are kept this year as OL or DL gets the extra roster spot. IF both excel then Taylor may go or the defense loses a spot.
QB-2
TT stays with 2. Battle between harrill & Campbell for #2 and PS.
DEFENSE- 26
GB has typically kept 24 to 26 defensive players on 53 man roster. I see 26 this year.
DL-7
Raji & Pickett are sure starters. Jones & Wilson battle for other base starting DE. 5th rdr Boyd sticks as another run stuffer. He’d get signed away if we put him on PS like 7th rdr Guy was last year. No sense TT volume drafting if he’s going to give them away. Neal & Daniels are doing a good job as inside rushers & will be joined by Jones. Worthy will start on PUP. That’s 7 and TT usually keeps 6 - but- unless Boyd excels enough to allow Wilson release - w/ Pick’s age & his & Raji’s contract up I think DL gets the coveted extra spot this year.
OLB-4
Clay, Perry, Moses are sure. 6th rdr Palmer could stick but also would be safe on PS if someone else steps up – maybe Lattimore moves back? Depth is provided by swing ability of Jones.
ILB-5
Hawk, Bishop, Jones, Manning & Francois are set. Lattimore is good on ST but unless he returns to OLB he’s gone. 7th rdr Barriington goes PS.
CB-6
Tramon & Shields probably start. Hayward is Nickel slot. House may get dime or possibly take Tramon’s spot if he falters. 5th rdr Hyde will be inactive while he learns. Bush is great ST gunner & decent 5th CB.
S-4
Burnett is SS. Richardson backs him up. Not drafting one of the plentiful FS signals confidence in McMillian who again competes w/ Jennings. TT won’t sign a vet like Rhodes. Why? The young guys are a year better.
