WTF
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/95255 ... wl-changesThe NFL is overhauling the Pro Bowl, eliminating the AFC-NFC format in favor of captains picking 43 players per team regardless of conference.
A coin toss will determine which squad gets the game’s opening possession. The ball will be placed at the 25-yard line at the start of the game and after scoring plays. Since there will be no kickoffs, the kick-return specialist Pro Bowl roster spot will be replaced with an additional defensive back spot.
Voting for the game also will be changed, as conference affiliation no longer will be considered in determining the All-Star selections. The two leading vote-getters will be named captains and will be assisted by Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders and two NFL.com fantasy football champions in picking the two teams.

Guarantee you this is an experiment to see if they can get rid of kickoffs.

Grade school playground rules for selecting teams, so weird.

The selection of the teams could be entertaining but it certainly won't improve the product on the field or get me to care about it.

There isn't anything they could do to make me watch this crap.

It would be cool to be a fantasy football Champ playing real fantasy football.

Yeah that was one of my biggest takeaways from this. This is a huge promo for the nfl.com fantasy game. I bet they get a bunch of new players this year.

I will definitely watch the picks, but I'm still not interested in the game.

It's like they looked at all of the terrible aspects of the Pro Bowl these last few years and crafted a series of changes that addresses none of them.

Yep.
Old format or new, I wouldn't roll over in bed to watch the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl is pointless. I would refuse to participate if I were a player because of some made up injury.
Do they still do that rookie flag football game that nearly cost Robert Edwards his leg? That guy lost out on millions of dollars playing an idiotic flag football game during the Pro Bowl weekend.
"I'd love to play, but I tweaked my groin last week during a workout. I need to sit this one out and let it heal."

Yeah, that Robert Edwards thing was also in the sand, iirc. Can't be sure but I think that killed it.

The only All-Star/Pro Bowl game i ever watch is baseball and that won't be changing.

Might as well make it playground style, since that's the way they play during the game.
I never watch the Pro Bowl but I always see the highlights afterwards of DB's jogging around not giving a ****, and think to myself why would anyone actually sit through 3 hours of that?
