I think Seattle will fall short of expectations this season. So will Atlanta.

The #1 ranking for Seattle is ridiculous. I honestly can't remember the last time that a team with such a short track record was as overrated as Seattle is going into this year.

Yeah cool, they put up 50 points on a pathetic Bills defense and a couple other scrub teams when they were playing for draft positioning, and "beat" a 9-7 Redskins team with a one-legged RGIII. Sure, the defense is still elite, but without Harvin, that offense is bare of weapons outside of their RB's, unless of course they're banking on (yet again) a full 16 games of a healthy Sidney Rice.

Their hype has gone from "dark-horse SB pick" to "2011 Eagles Dream Team" in the span of one offseason. I predict either a 9-7 or 8-8 finish with them just missing the playoffs.

Seattle's D alone gets them to the playoffs. With the Legion of Boom, and their improved pass rush, an average offense makes them a Super Bowl contender. Beast Mode allows them to control the T.O.P., and Russell Wilson was balling at the end of last year with supposedly pedestrian weapons. If he continues to play at that level or improves they are hard to argue against being one of if not the top team on paper.

I don't necessarily agree with Seattle being #1 going into the season but I agree with your post 100%.

To echo you,Seattle has the 2 things that win you games in the NFL..especially in the playoffs.A great physical defense headlined by a superb D-line and then a QB who doesn't make many mistakes.

I'm strongly leaning toward Seattle as my pick to come out of the NFC this season.

The thing that sucks for Seattle is that they play in the same division as the 49ers.If Seattle beats out the 49ers for the NFC west and gets HFA it could be all over.Seattle is in a position where they could potentially go 12-4/13-3 and still finish 2nd in that division and be a wild card and have to play all of their playoff games on the road. The rest of the NFC playoff teams catch a huge break if that happens.

Seahawks/49ers is going to a fun battle to watch for the NFC west that's for sure.

BTW I never understand why everyone is always down on the Falcons, they've been solid and consistent the past few years and should be improved this season.4 pts and an epic choke job away from the Super Bowl last season. Not picking them to win the NFC but they should be pretty damn good.

Everyone is down on Atlanta because they always seem to thrive on weak schedules, which they seem to have caught a few times over the last 3-4 years. Kudos to them for winning those games, but Matt Ryan is good but not elite and their defense blows.

Also, while Gonzalez has been a stud and S-Jax was a decent pickup, one of those vets could go over the hill, making their offense less potent.

They have made some good/great veteran free agent adds the past few seasons but they've also tied money up in guys that went over the hill.

Agree on ATL's defense being below average, their O should be nice and balanced though.

Disagree on Seattle. I think they have the swagger (stupid word) needed to go all the way.

We get him next week. I'd love to get a W against the Skins.

Excited to watch the NFC North play before us on Sunday. I think Detroit will beat MN, but I'm not sure about CHI/CIN.

Just tried this, and all I'm getting are the 4 PBS channels. :(

Totally forgot to buy an antenna today.

Vonta Leach scores first TD of the NFL season. Wish we still had him!
