Vikings Lead-Up

Obviously, we'll be watching the Finley stuff closely.

We get a look at Freeman tonight. I have to figure he'll be better for them than Ponder or Cassell, but we'll see. Vikings will be up for this game.

Minny's secondary is terrible, although I'm not sure how much we can exploit it without both Cobb and Finley. Hopefully James Jones is back and we continue to ride Lacy. Just getting out with a win is all that matters.

Not taking tonight's game into account.

GB Offense: 4th in ppg (28.0), 2nd in YPG (434.7)
GB Defense: 12th in ppg (21.2), 15th in YPG (345.8)

MIN Offense: 12th in ppg (25.0), 18th in YPG (338.4)
MIN Defense: 30th in ppg (31.6), 32nd in YPG (418.0)

Hopefully we get Hayward back as well. Can't wait to see him back on the field.

Assuming Finley is out (pretty much assured for a while), it'll be interesting to see how we use our TEs in the pass game. I was disappointed with the lack of snaps for Bostick, and I don't think he was even targeted once all game. No excuses now to not feature him as a receiver, as Ryan Taylor is still out, and Quarless isn't exactly going to stretch the field vertically.

We could sustain the injuries at WR because we still had Finley to create mismatches in the middle of the field. I think that this injury, other than Clay's, is going to hurt us the most. So long as Jordy is healthy, defenses have to respect the big play against us. I envision teams are going to give us a lot of single safety high looks now.

That being said, even with this being a division game, I see no reason why we shouldn't beat Minny by two scores. Without Harrison Smith, they have the worst secondary in the league. That offense can still put up points so long as they have AP, and Jennings will be motivated to play us, but they're already playing for next year's draft pick and beyond. Freeman is a slight upgrade over Cassel and Ponder, but in essence, they aren't going to hold our offense under 20 points, and our defense isn't going to allow more than 20 against a league average unit, with or without Freeman.

It's crazy how light our schedule is the next 7 weeks...

@Minnesota
Chicago (Cutler may be out)
Philly
@NY Giants
Minnesota
@Detroit
Atlanta

We should be favored in everyone of those games and other than Chicago, I doubt any will make the playoffs.

Are there any vet TE's out there we can pick up?

Seems like it was a pretty brutal Sunday all around for injuries in the NFL.

I meant better ones, especially on the receiving side of it..... :)

i.e. is there a guy who recently retired, etc.

I have faith in Bostick as a receiving weapon. He can't do much else, but he's athletic. We aren't going to trade for anyone, obviously. Don't think there are any recently retired TE's worth bringing in.

I like Bostick as well - wished we would have seen more from him yesterday.

According to a source, tests have come back negative so far, and Finley has regained almost all movement. More tests are scheduled.

Bostick is so damn raw. He's been through two camps and he still makes me nuts. If the guy is going to put it together, now would be the time especially with real reps, but I'm not expecting too much. I could see us turning to more of the OK State look when Cobb gets back if Finley can't go for the playoffs.

Looking ahead to the Bears next week...

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 5m
Source texts that Bears LB Lance Briggs will be out 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury. No surgery necessary. Will be back this season.

Sucks for the Bears. He's been the best defender for them on an otherwise terrible defense.

ATL papers were saying that the Falcons could start dumping players for picks, including Gonzalez.

I wouldn't give anything more than a 7th for Gonzalez and that is only if Finley is out for the year.

What's OK State's look?

Bears will be without Briggs and Cutler when we play them...

Jay Glazer ‏@JayGlazer 3m
Jay Cutler has a muscle tear in his groin. Out at least four weeks
