Pack/Giants Lead Up

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Nov 11, 2013 1:09 pm

While they have our number in the playoffs we play them well in the regular season.

Giants have won 3 in a row and just a game and a half out of first in the NFC Least.

While they've won 3 in a row Manning has continued to play pretty crappy.

Much of the focus this week will be on our QB situation. That really doesn't matter as long as our defense continues to suck suck suck. Clay will be ineffective until the club comes off. Did Raji even play yesterday? Shields and Datone played well, everyone else... sucked.

Feel pretty good about the offense being able to move the ball and put some points on the board. Won't matter though if the defense continues its regression to 2011 levels of bad. With the way the playoff picture is shaping up, this week pretty much begins the stretch of must win games until the end of the season. Maybe they can afford one more loss but that's about it. Of course they aren't out of the divisional race yet but it's getting there too.

What a depressing season this turned into fast. Can we rewind to last Monday right before kickoff?

If there is a QB who can give us some help with interceptions, it's Eli.

Eli threw for just 140 yards yesterday against the Raiders secondary. If he comes out and throws for 250+ against our secondary and we can't get at least one pick, I'll be extremely disappointed to say the least.

Maybe this was posted in another thread but TT did an interview with USA Today

This was done on Friday, before yesterdays game.

This is a very winnable game, IMO.

Need to make our field goals, cut out a major mistake or two and don't give up flukey scores.

Of course the Giants go on a 3 game win streak right before they play us. I have absolutely zero expectations of a win. Prove me wrong Tolzien.

“@jasonjwilde: RT @TomSilverstein: Matt Flynn will work out for #Packers today, according to NFL source. Could be signed immediately as backup for Tolzien.”

I feel much better about Tolzien than I did about Wallace. He at least makes you think about a throw down the field.

You have to sign him, even if you think his arm is busted because Tolzien is the only QB on the roster that can play right now.

Having Flynn on the sidelines could help as well, it's one more guy that knows the system and can help Tolzien make adjustments during the game.

Yeah we have to sign someone, might as well be Flynn, inured or not. Might as well cut Wallace.

It's interesting that McCarthy went with Tolzien immediately after the game, without knowing what the prognosis on Wallace would be. It makes me think that he was either really impressed with Tolzien, or really unimpressed with Wallace at practice last week.

Yeah, I've got some confidence in Tolzien but that may be offset by the offensive line injuries making a our dominant running game turn into an average one. I really hope EDS doesn't have an ACL. As far as winning this game I think it only happens if Eli throws a pick or two. NYG will play inspired now that they're season is not over because they play in an awful division. Very little faith in the defense this week.

He was impressed. For being thrown into the fire as a #3 QB dude played almost the best possible game he could have - minus the INT in the endzone and the miss to a wide open Jordy Nelson. He moved the ball - our defense lost this game for us - they were awful.

"It's two weeks in a row," McCarthy said. "I mean, you have a guy that goes through the week and takes all the reps. Unfortunately, he (Wallace) suffered the injury there in the first series.

"I thought Scott did a hell of a job. We're running plays he hasn't even practiced yet. He comes here, and it's a totally different language from where he's been his first two stops. For the most part, he was seamless in the huddle."

Eli has been crap but the Giants still have some good passing weapons. If the defense plays like it did yesterday, it could hurt. Giants running game has been really bad, so we should be able to pin our ears back and go after Eli. Whether we can generate any pass rush is another question.

I don't know, I just don't have any optimism right now.

Interesting decision for TT on a backup QB: a hobbled Wallace, a sore-elbowed Flynn, BJ Coleman, Harrell, Vince Young?

Btw, it's funny how Tolzien ends up starting for a Packer offense that now has the same run:pass ratio as every Badger team he was on.

The dark lining if we win with Tolzien playing solid next week is that there will be a lot of 2nd guessing as to whether he should have been the starter against Philly.
