Super Bowl Lead Up: 1/30 POLL ADDED
I'll pretty much avoid most of the coverage the next 12 days. I don't care about the hype and countless puff interviews. I'll tune in right before kickoff. I want Denver to win but won't be pissed if Seattle wins. As long as it's a good, entertaining game I'll be happy. And as much as I like watching snow games and bad weather games in general I'm hoping for decent weather for this one.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
This is the first Super Bowl or championship game in a sport in a very long time where I can't pick a team I want to win. I hope they both lose somehow.
Maybe I should put some money on it and that will make me give a crap.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Make a few bets to keep it interesting.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
Really excited for this one. I think it's a great match up and the fact it is being played outdoors makes it that much more interesting. Pulling for the Broncos because I like Manning and Decker, but I won't be too upset if Seattle wins because they will have earned it having to beat New Orleans, San Fran, and Denver, not an easy path.

I'm pulling for DEN. I like the fact that only about half the teams in the league have ever won the Owl. I'd like that club to remain a little exclusive.

Lived near Seattle for over a decade so go Hawks. Other than Taint I like that team, even Pete Carroll who I used to hate has grown on me.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
If Seattle wins I could see the NFL scheduling Green Bay at Seattle as the Thursday night season opener. Other possibilities would be a SB rematch with Denver, Niners in an NFC Championship rematch or Dallas (ugh).
If Denver wins it could be the Niners or the Colts.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
I'd prefer we don't open up against the defending Super Bowl champ since the champ usually wins that game.

I've always hated Carroll, but seeing him contrasted with Harbaugh constantly over the past couple of years has given me some perspective.
I don't really have a stake and I don't gamble, so...go Russell Wilson, I guess?

Yeah, I used to absolutely hate Carroll but it is a big factor of seeing him vs Harbaugh and realizing that Carroll actually doesn't seem to be a bad guy.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
The thing is though, Harbaugh coached and recruited the right way in college. He left the program in much better shape than when he took it over. Carroll was the shady one using all sorts of slimy recruiting tactics and ultimately leaving the program in ruin as he moved on to the NFL.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
Just out of curiosity this morning, I checked the long range weather forecast for NY. It showed a high in the low 40's, but rain turning to snow.
If that holds true, it won't be 'Ice Bowl' miserable, but it will be far from comfortable. Could turn into a mudder, which probably favors Seattle.

I'm not a big Harbaugh fan, but I don't see why people think Carroll is so great compared to him.
It isn't his fault that they put the camera on him 290374097234907230472390742 times a game. He's just a super passionate guy about the game... at times to the point where it is a little annoying for sure. But you'd never know about it if the camera didn't move to him every time he moves on the sideline.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
I agree with what PBGM and Newz said regarding the two coaches, but the reason they are putting Harbaugh on camera so much is because he acts like a petulant child every single time any call goes against his team no matter how obvious it was the right call or not. If Carroll acted like that they would show him too.
That said I think Carroll as an NCAA coach was very questionable in what he did but as an NFL coach I prefer him to Harbaugh and it isn't even close.

Just laugh at/with both of them. It's way more fun.
I don't hate either of them and laugh my ass off when they show a slow-mo Hard Paw blowup.

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
Yea, i agree for the most part.
Harbaugh's never ending whining can annoy me at times, but overall i like seeing coaches with some personality like Harbaugh, Carroll, Tomlin types who don't just stand there like stoic robots at all times as many other head coaches do.
The same goes for many louder type of players. Fans of other teams will often hate the Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, Richard Sherman boisterous great athletes, unless of course they are on your team. So i rarely get all bothered by big personality types because this is professional sports, a purely entertainment business.

I know you said you "weren't offended" by the whole Sherman thing (though you proceeded to defend the criticisms on behalf of anyone else), but this comment just cracks me up in light of your...ahem...other people's criticisms of Sherman.

Why does this crack you up when considering what I said about Sherman?
People dislike what Sherman did because he went a little crazy during an interview and taunted someone. I said it didn't offend me at all, but I get it.
People dislike Harbaugh because he stomps around like crazy on the sidelines and screams a lot during the games... and the camera is constantly on him. This also doesn't offend me, but I get why people are annoyed by it.
Why does any of that "crack you up"?

Re: Super Bowl Lead Up
It blows me away that Sherman's post game comments are getting such an incredible amount of attention.
Sports at the level of that game get very emotional for just the fans of the two teams. Think about all of the f-bombs and screaming fans of teams in the playoffs use while watching the game and they aren't even on the field playing. Here is a favorite example of mine after Brett threw the late pick vs the Saints.

Yet, many of these same fans expect all players to be humble and respectful right after an intense game where trashing talking back and forth was likely happening most of the game.
