Bert had very good results, surrounded himself with great assistants, and had very few problem players. Sure he was a dumb ****, but he was a good CEO of a program.

GA making an early push to finish the recruiting class. With the 3 OL verbals this year and the class of signees last year, I have to think that a prime RB is next to commit.

Re: College Football 2014 Thread
Yeah I was reading that they're pretty much right up against the threshold of total schollies they can have. I'm sure they'll have decommits last minute and there is that James kid that is as soft of a verbal as it gets.
I don't think that Weber kid is coming and it seems like all other RBs are off their radar, maybe Scarlett. I'm sure they'll get back in on a few.
Sitting at #14 in the 247 rankings. They're bound to drop as other teams fill out their classes and the big dogs commit. They'll probably end in that real nice #30 realm.
Agree on Beilema. I was on here kinda playing the angle that he was a bit under appreciated results-wise when he left. Personally, GA was one of the few guys that I was immediately happy to have for the "upgrade" though we'll need to see more years of results to confirm that.

Jaden Gault, the top 2014 recruit for the Badgers, who had enrolled early, is taking a leave and likely redshirting 2014 to get over depression issues.

Re: College Football 2014 Thread
Badgers lost 4-star WR Dareian Watkins (personal) and Chris Jones (didn't make UW's admissions, going to Toledo).
No reason to think the sky is falling but this past class has hit with a bit of a thud.
Sounds like Watkins moved out of his family's house and in with friends when he turned 18 and it turned into a ****.

Re: College Football 2014 Thread
It'd be great to never have another recruiting class like last year's.
The Badgers have been snakebitten lately with the underclassmen. In the last year, lost two OL to concussions, 1 OL to depression, 2 DT recruits to academics, 1 WR to freakout, 1 WR to academics, and 1 ILB recruit to rape. I think we also lost a couple DB recruits to academics, one was a JUCO and one was a 4 star who ended up at Nebraska IIRC, but I don't remember those details exactly.
Additionally, our 2 deep DT Gilbert has graduated and has left the team. Front 7 is THIN. Really thin.
EDIT: the kid who went to Nebraska was 2 years ago, DJ Singleton.
Crazy stat.... including Evans and Keels, 6 or our top 8 verbal commits will not be with the team next year. Insane.

Re: College Football 2014 Thread
New verbal Dominic Sheppard out of Miami. He reports offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Miami among a host of others. Not sure how valid or commitable those offers are. Not because I don't think that a kid could pick Madison over Tuscaloosa, but because I don't see Alabama, Ohio State, and Notre Dame extending early offers to 3 star out of state LBs very often.
Good news nonetheless, as defensive recruiting has been lagging this year.

Almost unfair what Oregon can do with all of that Nike money.

Yeah I've seen those pictures before. I'd guess their facilities are probably nicer than just about every NFL team.

Didn't you guys hear? College sports are destitute and if they had to pay players the end would come swiftly....

You know this is a "must win" for Bielema.
