Figured we should get the right year on it now.

A decent first "full" Gary Andersen recruiting class...depending on the service still ranks near the top they've ever had.

I hadn't ever followed it as closely until this year when I started following all the right names on Twitter. Gillins seems raw but could be a steal. They got a ton of WR/CB depth.

All of that said, it fell short of being incredible. No Lammons, McGary, Mixon, Kamara. Evans leaves. I wonder if he will qualify at MSU. He didn't seem as solid as some of the usual in-state guys all along but no idea why he'd drop 2 days early if there wasn't something else going on. I was somewhat shocked when his coach announced his grades to the Madison papers a week ago.

Also sounds like Dom Cizauskas will have to wait until the legal stuff goes through. He didn't sign today and who knows what the deal is. I don't know how you'd handle that situation. You don't want to cut ties in the case that he's innocent but it seems likely that something happened and you don't want that sort if headache. My guess is he does not ever end up in Madison.

I think you have to let the process play out and let that determine his fate as a UW football player. That way, you have a reason to point to regardless of what you do or what comes out later.

The Browns interviewed Gary Andersen. Weird.

My buddy teaches UW's DL coach's son at Madison Memorial and the kid was telling my buddy that they may be moving to Cleveland because Andersen was talking with the Browns. Both of us kind of doubted it but it sounds like it was legit. I guess the kid is going to be a pretty good player. I think he's like a sophomore.

Well, from the official statement, which I'm sure is laced with some BS, he said he decided he was not interested after the first conversation.

Yeah who knows how interested Andersen actually was. The kid could have just been bragging to people at school. I don't pretend to have inside sources, that was just a conversation my friend and I had 2-3 weeks ago when we were out drinking. I didn't take it very seriously, otherwise I probably would have shared it with you guys.

Less than one week after Wisconsin’s Gary Andersen signed his second recruiting class, a report has surfaced that he interviewed with the Cleveland Browns for their vacant head coaching position.

From Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on Tuesday:

“#Browns tried it all during coaching search. Source says they secretly interviewed #Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen, who got a raise on 1/25.”

UW athletic director Barry Alvarez, who is working out of town, could not be reached Tuesday.

A call left with Brian Lucas, UW’s director of athletic communications, was not immediately returned.

The Badgers suffered a 31-24 loss to visiting Penn State in their regular-season finale and closed the season with a 34-24 loss to No. 9 South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl.

A UW source on Tuesday declined to confirm whether Andersen interviewed with the Browns. However, the source did say it was not surprising that an NFL team would show interest in Andersen.

Andersen’s initial five-year contract included a salary of $1.8 million for his first season, with annual raises of $100,000.

The UW athletic board last month approved a one-year extension for Andersen, through 2019. That action restored the contract to five years in length a standard move by the board.

Andersen, 49, turned a moribund Utah State program into an 11-game winner in 2012.

His record in four seasons at Utah State was 26-24. The Aggies had a combined six victories in the three seasons before Andersen was hired.

Cleveland eventually hired Mike Pettine, the defensive coordinator with the New York Jets from 2009 through ’12 and with the Buffalo Bills last season.

I do have concerns about GA long term. Damn good coaches tend to move up pretty quickly.

I wouldn't be pissed if he left for an NFL gig, but I'd question whether it would be smart for him to leave for the Browns.

Yeah it's bull for sure. They didn't even do a study to see if it leads to more injuries.

Gotta love Saban and Bielema getting to speak to the committee right before they voted. Why didn't they invite Mark Helfrich, Kevin Sumlin, or Art Briles?

Gundy's quotes were great. New rule proposals are trash, about the only reasonable explanation from the other side is that most teams don't snap in the first 10 seconds anyways...they just line up and look over at the sideline so the D can't substitute.

Remember in 2006 when they decided to keep the clock running after kickoffs, punts and change of possession to try to speed up games. It was a disaster and scrapped after one season. What they could have done instead is reduced halftimes from 20 minutes to 12 like the NFL.

Badgers picked up a big verbal on a 4 star TE out of California Mater Dei.

...does that rule change go into effect for the entire game?

Need to spike the clock? **** you, wait while the clock runs out.

Wut?

I can see him responding with a cocky and condescending tone too. Can't wait to see him continue to fail next year, hopefully they go another year without a conference win.

I guess i don't even see BB's point. From the single article I read, it seems like was from exhaustion from normal activities. I don't see how you can blame it on a hurry up offense. Am I missing something?
