I would not play my starters a single snap in the preseason if I ran a team.

Most I'd go is giving them a full quarter in the third preseason game. Nothing more than a series before that. These **** preseason injuries. Only thing I'm holding onto is Bakh being thrown into the fire start of last season and going on to have a very good rookie season. Hope we can see a repeat of that with a different guy this year.

Yup, fingers crossed Linsley can hold down the fort until Tretter returns.

It's sad that I feel this is only the beginning.

Im going to stay positive on this one. Tretter is a late round G/T they turned into a C who is coming off an injury and hasnt proven anything. Linsley is a late round experienced college C who also hasnt proven anything. Both had been playing well in camp from all reports. They may not be losing much if anything.

OL depth has been my biggest concern and this is becoming worst case scenario. The #1 backup is done for the year and now we've lost the center they were banking on for a significant amount of time and arguably the toughest part of the schedule. This is not good.

This one hurts.

OL needs to gel as a unit. C and QB is obviously very important. These things take time. We have none left.

It can happen almost as easily in camp, just look at Barclay and Abbrederis, but suffered season ending injuries in camp and so have many others gotten hurt in previous training camps.

I get the worry about injuries in preseason games and i would limit the number of snaps my main starters got in preseason games also, but football is such a violent activity, injuries are inevitable. Plus, for a guy like Tretter who missed all of last season and had never played a single snap at center in a live football game, the Packers had to want to see how he'd look in live action.

Tretter really looked great, too. This is too bad, but hopefully he comes back strong. Linsley seems solid, has pro strength, and should be ok as a stopgap.

Article in the JS had a quote from Tretter's agent; he said that Tretter has something like a bone bruise and depending on how it's treated will take 3-6 weeks. That's not bad for something McCarthy called "significant."

Thank god our 1st six games mostly face some below .500 teams. With Tretter out, we will have tough games to keep up with Seahawks and Bears' DEF front sevens. Luckily, we have three good weeks for Rodger to gel with his new center. Somebody got to step up.
