Week 1 Lead Up: @Seachickens

Since the preseason is officially over for us and the fact we are less than a week away from the first game, I'm going to start the lead up thread today.

For some reason, I feel like we win this one. I think the super bowl champ has only lost one home opener since the NFL started opening each season with the reigning champ. So we will probably be heavy underdogs in this one.

The most interesting thing about the game imo will be how the refs call pass interference on the secondaries. We all know they are going to pay more attention to that this season, so hopefully they call it tight on Sherman Co.

I figure our offense will dominance about as much as any offense can dominance against Seattle's D. I am most excited to see if our defense starts off being at least somewhat reasonable this year.

Big test right out of the gate. Should be exciting.

Silverstein was saying there are going to be some huge surprises in our defensive schemes week 1. Should be interesting.

Sounds awesome. Hopefully they actually surprise Seattle and are effective. :D

I am also super curious to see how Seattle sets up their defense against us. Do they only put six guys in the box most of the time so that they can control Rodgers/our receivers? Or do they load up with 7-8 guys and rely on their secondary in one-on-one coverage?

My guess is they rely heavily on that secondary to shut guys down 1-on-1 and focus their D on stopping Lacy from having a major impact.

We have had some really tough matchups in week 1 the past few years.

Yep. Take a look at every year's opener since Rodgers took over.

2008 -- VS Vikings
2009 -- VS Bears
2010 -- @ Eagles
2011 -- VS Saints
2012 -- VS 49ers
2013 -- @ 49ers
2014 -- @ Seahawks

5 of 6 (most likely 6 of 7 with Seattle) of those ended up being playoff teams, with the 2009 Bears being the exception, and they ended up 8-8 that year.

No way we win in that stadium especially in the first game that matters since they hoisted the Lombardi.

If this game was later in the season or at Lambeau Field, I'd be confident. But I really have no expectations and expecting a double digit loss.

I see a close loss.

That defense just shut destroyed a historically great offense a few months ago and only got better with Harvin back at 100%.

Hard to see even the biggest homer predicting a win.

Packers: 73
Seahawks: 2 (When Tolzien kneels in the end zone on accident at the end of the game)

Boom. Write that down.

I kid, I agree that it's most likely going to be a close loss.

I'm not picking the packers to win but people who say no chance are crazy. 1. It's the NFL and has insane parity. 2. We have Aaron Rodgers. Those two things alone give us a punchers chance. If I got 1/3 odds, I'm betting on the pack.

My heart says we win, my head says we fight out a tough close fought game and lose by 10 or so but the actual game was closer than the final score.

I think that we match up much better against Seattle than we do with San Francisco. So you can count me amongst the people that thinks we have a pretty good chance of beating them on their own turf. Rodgers is locked in and if the officials enforce the new illegal contact rules like they have been in the pre-season, then that takes away a huge part of Seattle's defensive game plan.

Lacy is the key, and I see us utilizing a lot of screens and short passes to soften up that front 7. Lynch and Wilson's scrambling ability are the only things that worry me on their offense. If we can hold them below 20 pts, I think that we win the game. They just don't have the offensive weapons to beat us in a shootout.

I hate the Seahawks. I hope they pull all of the ACLs and their fans get all of the airborn AIDS.

We need Lacy to punish that defense. Long, painful, and extremely tiring drives from the Bell Cow.

Not expecting a win but I wouldn't be shocked if we do pull it out. I like games where we are the underdog, right now it's at 5.5
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Did Godgers change his name?

I'd much rather have SEA game 1 than any other game. We basically beat them in SEA last time we played there, I'm looking for more the same this time around.

Great money line bet for GB if you ask me
