Good McGinn article on the new uniforms Ron Wolf proposed in 1993. He had prototypes made and Ted Thompson modeled one on the field for the execs to see. I remember at the time people were very much against it, I don't remember if the actual uniforms were ever made public.

"He (Thompson) was on the field down there all by himself," recalled Wolf. "The guy ran up and down the field. I was thinking to myself, 'Holy (expletive), I must have been smoking dope.'"

I love reading about little anecdotes that come out after history was made. I hope someone writes a great book about the Packers under Ron Wolf era. There must be tons of stories like this. Similar to 'When Pride Still Mattered'. Thanks for the link Mickey.

If they made a movie who would play:

Favre
Holmgren
Wolf

Go!

Great piece. Funny to hear that Wolf had Ted Thompson model the new uniforms on the field.

Good questions on who plays those three guys in a movie.

Don't know who plays Favre or Wolf but John Goodman as Holmgren seems like the most obvious casting choice ever.

If they made a movie who would play:

Favre-Matt McConaughey
Holmgren-John Goodman
Wolf-Robert Redford

Go!

I still wish that Ron would've dumped the yellow. I agree that the mock ups of what Ron wanted do look bad but I think it's because he ditched ALL of the stripes, not because of the change from yellow to gold. I liked the switch from 5 stripes to 3 and if he had just switched the yellow to gold we would've been good.

Agree. Would never fly now but could've worked in 93 before we started going back to Super Bowls and such. I'd definitely own more Packers gear if they had.

I personally hope they keep the current logo/colors for another lifetime.
