Just posted that in the other thread. I think it's a decent move. If the younger guys blow up, then you can just cut him. Otherwise, it doesn't hurt having a crafty vet as an option behind Cobb and Adams.

I'd add him if he's interested. Still had 780 yards and 12.2 yards per reception last year.

I'd be surprised if it happened. TT doesn't usually like bringing in veteran WRs, but I'd be all for it if he's not convinced either Janis or White are NFL-ready.

Problem is Wayne doesn't really have the speed to play outside anymore. Would that mean moving him to the slot and playing Cobb split out more?

This is just an eye test, but Myles White is useless. I'm not somebody that gets stoked over veteran names, but I'd prefer anybody over Myles White (if Janis is good enough for 5, then fine).

Janis is making the team without any shred of doubt. I hope they add a veteran WR and then keep Cobb/Adams/Montgomery/Janis. White is terrible.

White has been getting pretty good separation and has made some difficult catches in the games. He's also been raved about in the practices and he runs a 4.42. His big problem was he could (and can still?) be tackled with ease by a slight breeze. One problem with getting a FA WR is they need to learn a difficult playbook in a short amount of time.

I would absolutely be interested in Wayne. Without a doubt.

I guess I'm fine with it. I don't think Wayne really can play much anymore, but he's definitely an upgrade over somebody like Myles White.

I'd rather root for the Giants to cut James Jones, but whatever.

James Jones will likely be cut by the Giants and makes a lot of sense here.

James Jones signed Thursday and had a great game on Saturday. Doubt they cut him.

I don't like with Janis or White so I'm fine with this I guess. Maybe there will be a surprise WR cut on 9/1 or later

James Jones, Reggie Wayne, misc. free agent, Myles White, in that order.

Everything I've read said James Jones is pretty much locked in as the #4 WR with the NYG. Doubt we get a chance at him.

I've wanted us to bring in Wayne for a while as a solid security blanket. I'd love him here. Yeah, he's not a #1 anymore, but he can still make a big catch here and there and is a veteran with Super Bowl experience.

What is Super Bowl experience really? I agree with your other points, and I guess being a good veteran can be a good influence in the training rooms, etc. but does a guy take a different mindset into an NFL football game because he happened to play in the SB?

Wayne could also come in and flop like a Jeff Saturday.

Patriots probably signed him just to keep him away from us.

If by some luck and craziness the Giants cut Jones then sure. Pick him up. But I don't really see the need to bring in Wayne. He's best suited in the slot nowadays so in 3 WR sets we're moving Cobb to the outside. With that being the case I'd rather roll with Montgomery in the slot instead and get him some game experience while also having a guy who at least runs the risk of making a few guys miss for a big play.

You gotta trust the young guys to step up. Next man up. Even the it's a Pro Bowler in Jordy it's still only one guy. We were going to lose somebody importent at some point this season. It's the way the NFL works. You adjust and move on. More Lacy. More R. Rodgers. More Cobb. More Adams. Along with a pretty damn good Oline. And of course there's the little matter of having the reigning MVP. Yes this offense can weather losing Nelson and still be one of the top units around.

I shudder to think of the ideas that'll get tossed around for who we should pick up if Shields goes down if this is how people are reacting to losing a single player, (yes one of the top guys but still), at a position where we also have another pro bowl caliber guy in Cobb at and another ascending player in Adams.

Once again. This is the NFL. These types of injuries happen to EVERY single team in the league.

Someone who has gone through the rigors of an NFL season and had managed to reach the pinnacle of his sport can be an inspiration to his teammates and can help provide a veteran's confidence and experience in managing the journey to the top. That's part of being a leader - making it to the top and showing the young guys (particularly the very young receiving corp) what it takes to get to there.

Even if you don't think that's true, I don't understand the point in nitpicking. You seem to enjoy doing that, for some reason.
