Richard Rodgers fantasy advice?

Hey Packers fans... Cowboys fan here.

Sorry to hear about Jordy. We just lost our best cornerback, Orlando Scandrick, so I feel your pain.

Anyways, I'm thinking long and hard about Rodgers as my TE in my fantasy league. I feel like he's gonna breakout. Am I off base here, or do you guys see the same?

I don't know if he will break out or not, he improved as the season went on and played well the last couple of weeks of the regular season and had 4 catches against Seattle. He'll get opportunities no doubt, I don't know if I'd draft him very high though.

You can probably get Richard Rodgers with your last draft pick. I see him improving a lot from last season (from a pure #'s standpoint). But I wouldn't bet on a "breakout" year. He's got great hands but he's not a freak athlete like Jermichael Finley (who didn't put up monster fantasy numbers). Rodgers won't stretch the field or demand extra attention. And Aaron Rodgers, much like Favre, spreads the ball around to everyone. So its not like he'll ever feature RichRod. He just might possibly finish a top-10 fantasy TE, but I wouldn't go out of your way to target him in your draft.

Okay cool-- thank you both a lot for the advice. Seems I should probably temper my expectations a bit then. Appreciate it a bunch.

I think he's going to be worth starting, but wouldn't reach for him.

Yep I had Rodgers as my LATE sleeper before Jordy and plan on taking him now unless some high end tight end falls to me unexpectedly. Unless you are drafting with some crazy Packer fans who like to take Packers early he will be a last round pick. I am thinking 60+ catches, 600 yards, and 6 TDs.

He could be a big red zone target like bubba Franks but less yardage with minimal yac
and not a lot of deep balls.

I think he will have a good year but nothing out of this world.

Probably late top ten TE fantasy pick.

Fyi while Dick is clearly the #1 TE they won't completely forget about Quarless. He will still takeaway a few balls and get some PT. Although they might do a few extra 2 TE sets being down jordy. Instead of their normal 3 WR. 1 TE 1Rb.

Honestly I think Adams gets a bigger fantasy boost. Top 40 WR now and could be a steal with injury riddled Cobb being the number 1 option.

Most experts have him in the top 20-30 WRs now that Jordy is hurt.

Missed out on Adams last night in my draft but grabbed Montgomery and Rodgers for the end of my bench. I could see Rodgers catching 10 TDs this year.

Packers TEs last year 51 catches on 80 targets for 551 yards and 6 TDs, total

I'm not expecting a ton out of Rodgers. Looks a heavy when he runs, not much of a playmaker.

*hoping like hell he's there in 8th round because he's going to have a breakout season with Jordy shelved*

Yeah, he sucks. The last I heard, he could end up getting cut.

He catches everything. He's going to become Aaron's favorite target this season. I can feel it.

I think Rodgers could end up being similar to what Bubba Franks was back in the day. I think he can be a possession guy who will catch the ball and fall forward for another 2 yards, and who can shield off/out-reach DB's in the back of the end zone for TD's. If he can become an average+ blocker, that's perfection fine.

Well yeah, but Adams is going in the 3rd-4th round of most drafts. I like Adams but no way am I taking him over #1's like Cooks, Matthews, or alot of the running backs going in those rounds. I think he is being over-hyped because of the injury being so new, the unknown factor, and when you are drafting with people in Wisconsin they always take Packers super early.

Don't get me wrong, I would welcome Adams on my team and expect big things from him but not at the expense of some of the other players going in those rounds. I would take him in the 5th, but he will be gone.

That's exactly what I see as well. Can fall forward and move the chains and be a big end zone target we have been lacking when we are inside the 5.
