Is 2015 TT's best draft ever?

Call this the 2-3 years waaaaay too early thread.

But in terms of number of hits in one draft, is this the best TT has ever done?

#1, #2, and #3 are all making immediate contributions, plus #6 RIP is already a major player on special teams. Has TT ever got it right with his first 3 picks all home runs like this?

Again, I know waaaaaaay too early, but with the small sample size, the early returns got me

#1 Randall already is looking better than 2014 version of Tramon. Younger, quicker, a fraction of the cost and only getting better. Tramon had some good years in green bay and at his peak was a top 5-10 corner in the league and was worth every penny of his contract. But in 2014 he was not as reliable and getting leaky in coverage.

#2 Rollins is already contributing on special teams, and getting some extended action Sunday started out with a bang. Pick 6 and another INT to boot. He's still raw and still is a mixed bag of getting beat, but he's oozing talent and can't help but think he's going to be an excellent corner if he can figure out this game in a couple years.

(wow, TT not only replaced Tramon and Davon but IMPROVED on them, that's incredible).

#3 Ty Montegomery. I remember some not so happy campers about going WR again in the draft after going to that well so often lately. Well Damn, Ty has been important with all the injuries. I was thrilled just for his KR abilities after watching 2014 of the worst kick returns in the NFL. We struggled to get to the 20 when the ball hit the 3. It was pathetic. Just wait another 4 weeks when things get cold and kickers can't hit it out of the endzone and Ty gets more chances, he's going to break a couple big ones this year. I'm also surprised he's already contributing on offense so early. He's already our #3 WR.

#4 Jake Ryan. He's already contributing on special teams and in preseason showed me enough to look forward to seeing what he can do next year. I think he starts ahead of Palmer/Barrington next year.

#5 Hundley. If there was any season in current NFL history that shows how important a backup QB is, I would say 2015 would be the year. Hundley looked better in preseason then a number of guys trotting out these past couple of sundays. Hundley is looking like a nice asset to have in our pocket, excellent work TT.

#6 RIP. He's been pretty good on special teams and the few times he's lined up in the wishbone he's made a couple punishing blocks. Kuhn is in his swan song season, and I think RIP is a faster, more punishing version.

I think the verdict is out still on Ringo & Backmann. On the UDFA ranks I still think Gunter is going to be a solid DB, maybe a decent nickle or dime back.

I guess I'm surprised by the IMMEDIATE positive results of this 2015 draft class. If we are seeing such positive contributions now, my excitement is how good they can be with a year or so of experience and training under their belt. Again all way too early, but it has me excited.

The last time I saw us hit our TOP 3 picks all in the same draft....Maybe 2009? 1st Rounders BJ and Clay, next 4th round pick TJ Lang. That was a pretty good 1,2,3 (although not much behind it).

I just gotta give thumbs up to TT for this draft, so far it's been an excellent class.

I still vote for 2005....lol.

It's still early like you said but it looks like Teddy might have hit multiple home runs in this draft.I have man crushes on Montgomery and Randall and I'm starting to develop one for Rollins lol.

That's why I bolded, "Most hits in one draft" as the qualifier for best ever, because without that qualifier 2005 will by default always be the best ever.

I wouldn't say any of the first 3 picks are home runs yet and personally wouldn't rank it above last year's draft either.

I'll take Ha Ha, Lynsley and R Rodgers over Randell, Rollins and Montgomery as it was even with Goodson and Bradford being factored into last year's draft as Rollins has one good game (though I did love him comming out), Ryan has yet to impress me, Hundley "hopefully" will never play a meaningful down and RIP is a FB.

Early signs are encouraging though from this past years class

This. It's incredibly rare to, by their 2nd year, find more than one starter in a single draft class, let alone 3. Thornton was really the only black eye on last years class. Perry looking better this season is also making that 2012 class look a lot better, assuming you ignore the wasted Jerel Worthy pick.

I could see a scenario where next year, Rip, Rollins, Randall and maybe even Jake Ryan are all starters, with Gunter being on the active roster and Ty owning special teams and WR 4 duty. I really don't see Kuhn, Hayward, Richardson and Goodson being back. And I don't think Barrington or Palmer really have a strong hold on that other ILB job by any means.

So I don't know if it is his best since Clay/Raji but it's looking pretty strong. Any time you can land 3 quality CBs in today's modern passing era you have done a hell of a job.

I agree with all of this except the minor symantec regarding you saying you could see a scenerio of Randell, Rollins and Ryan all starting.

I see Randell and Rollins being the #2 and nickel corner respectably and could see Ryan being in the base defense just if you view the nickel CB as a starter then how do you view the LB that gets pulled when he comes in? Same goes for RIP at FB with the #3 WR being viewed the same as a nickel CB? Can't have 12 starters is all I'm saying.

Oh well its more of a question of terminology then any kind of complaint over what you said....... Ehh my minds wondering

Cautiously optimistic, but there's really no logical way to answer this question five games into their rookie years.

Things are looking great for this draft class but it is way too early, just last years draft class could be easily better than this one.

Yeah, I mean we play in Nickle 80% of the time or whatever, so I did consider that a "starter", but then I also consider two MLB as "starters" too. So yeah, I guess in that scenario I was referencing 12 starters.
