Huffington Post: Major Athletes Used HGH: Manning. Neal, Peppers, Others: Delta-2

As part of a long article, the Huffington Post has linked HGH use with--namely--Peyton Manning. But as it applies to the Packers I thought I'd relate this:
The report does not link Manning to Delta-2, but Sly and Robertson name multiple football players as customers, including Green Bay Packers linebacker Mike Neal. Neal, Sly says, connected him with multiple teammates, including defensive end Julius Peppers.
Full story here:

Sly also says that he provided Clay Matthews, Green Bay’s Pro Bowl linebacker, with the prescription painkiller Percocet to help him deal with pain before at least one game. He also brags in one undercover video that Matthews texted him in an attempt to obtain Toradol, a powerful painkiller that is banned in many countries but not in the United States.

Meh I've long believed most NFL players use hgh and abuse pain meds so I'm neither shocked or care. But I could see this being a distraction if parts of the media blow it out of proportion.

Naturally, they're not natural.

It doesn't surprise me that these guys dope. I've always found it laughable that all of the PED talk in baseball never led to the same kind of outcry and crackdown in the NFL.
I was pretty stunned to see Manning's name specifically, but it makes sense coming back from such a significant injury.
I was also pretty stunned that Clay was only linked to a single Toradol, rather than a doping regimen like some of his USC brethren.

Yep, back in the day I used to abuse 800 mg Motrin. Took 6-8 at once of those suckers in the Army. Military is so lame with treatment... Had a pretty significant MCL sprain back then....

Meh....these guys get crushed and beat up through out the season. I don't have a problem with them needing something to cope with the toll the sport takes on their body. You just hope it doesn't hurt their careers or post football life. Football is a pretty damaging sport as it is.

The Al Jazeera Investigative Unit will have the documentary about the report tomorrow I think
Hopefully it'll be on YouTube

Why does the report even mention Percocet? Is that illegal in the NFL?

Probably because he acquired it illegally

I'm pretty sure it's legal, but it's administered specifically by the team. If he's going outside the NFL to get more, he may abusing them.

Also both Neal and Peppers have been busted by the NFL for PED use before, so it's not all that surprising that they're linked to something used to cover up PEDs.

I don't think there was the outcry because most football fans realize it's a gladiator sport and most guys are probably using something. Heck we don't even care when they get caught, guys just do their 4 game suspension and come back like nothing happened. None of the public shaming baseball players get if they get caught.
In general I find it very naive to think guys in all the major sports aren't using. These are ultra competitive alpha males who have millions of dollars to gain by increasing performance. It's common sense they would do anything and everything possible to gain an edge.
I also find it tricky as to where we draw the line on things like hgh. Why shouldn't Peyton Manning be allowed to take whatever is most helpful in healing his neck injury?

Makes a lot of sense since Peyton's career is looking oh so similar to Roger Clemens. Superstar starts to fall apart in his 30's, suddenly re-appears on the scene better than ever.
My only question on this relates to Favre and what if anything Brett ever took that was illegal in the PED department since Manning's second act allowed him to move up on the records books on Favre on a lot of things. If Favre was clean (save for his painkiller issues in 95) Manning roiding up would tarnish some of his records for me at least.

This just isn't that big of a deal to me, just like in baseball.

Pretty much this, when I heard Clay's name I figured it would be more than a painkiller.

Just hope this doesn't mean we lose Peyton Manning commercials. Those need to stay as long as he lives, then we need to use a hologram.

I get what you're saying but I think you argue the other way that the painkillers allowed favre to play some games he couldn't have without them and that directly effected his counting stats. Also favre had a bit of a late career resurgence himself with the vikes. Dude was hell bent on proving the pack wrong... I'm not saying he was juiced but it's really not a crazy assumption.

You have sales men trying to get a sale, of course they're going to lie and say they helped everyone under the son.
Look at the small part about mike neal, They never say he took drugs, the guy says they switched his position(WTF) and clay needs to reach out to people he's never dealt with for pain killers. Sorry this is bull ****.
