Linsley might end up on the IR at this point.

The hamstring must be severe and is certainly concerning. Since he hasnt practiced they can just leave him on the pup to start the year then reevaluate after week 6.

Yeah I'm guessing that is the route they'll have to go.

I could see that if it's severe the problem. Leaves us thin at the center spot though for those first 6 weeks

Linsley on the PUP probably moves Barclay onto the roster until he can return.

Do we keep 5 or 6 DL on the opening roster? The first two games require DL depth: at Jax in the heat and at Minnesota with their run-heavy offense. And who is the 5th/6th guy(s)?

I am really interested in what TT's plan for the OL is going forward. He rarely lets guys hit free agency so I expect an extension or two before the season ends. Maybe he wants to see Spriggs for awhile (he's been pretty bad so far but it's waaaaay early).

Id say there no way they go 6 on the roster because i cant see them ever dressing 6 on game day. Daniels, clark, giuyon, and lowery are locks then id say its a fight between ringo and the undrafted rooks for that last spot until pennel returns.

I think the draft spells a different outcome this time around. I think Bakh is guaranteed gone. A left tackle that is on the open market in today's free agency? He's probably middle of the pack quailty and he'll probably get paid like a top 5 or top 10 tackle. Seeya.

Probably will sign/extend 2 of them and fill the rest through the draft/depth.

I can't fault Spriggs for looking bad against Khalil Mack. Dude is a freak and arguably already a top 3 pass-rusher in the league. I'm more concerned about Barclay being forced into action in the case of injuries on the O-line. He's looked terrible going on 2 seasons now.

I expect that Tretter and Lang will be our extensions. I would be surprised if we splashed into Sitton unless he was willing to take under market to stay. I think Bakh is gone unless he does the same. Spriggs has the legs to play LT, and just needs to get the strength to anchor against players that are freak athletes.

At D line, I would expect we keep 5 plus Jones playing hybrid DE/OLB. Daniels, Guion, Clark, Lowry, Ringo, and then probably cut Ringo and try to stash him when Pennel comes back.

Really only need 4 actual DL maybe 5. Packers only play base 40 percent of the time and do a lot of 2 man fronts. So you have Guion,Clark, Daniels, Pennel(suspended 4 games) and Lowery. Probably a fight while Pennel is down for the last spot, which Price is winning right now.

Anytime they do 4 DL Peppers or Jones will have their hand down.

Plus 1, while at the same time he will need to do a lot of work in the weight room next off season. Bull rush vs stronger opponents will give him fits this year.

I'd agree with the rest of you on who we resign, seems a given it's Lang and Tretter. Bahkti will be expensive and Sitton has had back issues for years.

Here's my 53 after 2 preseason games

Offense-25
QB-Rodgers/Hundley
RB-Lacey/Starks/Crockett
FB-Rip
WR-Nelson/Cobb/Montgomery/Janis/Abby/Adams
TE-Cook/Rodgers/Perillo
T-Bulaga/Bakhiari/Spiggs/Murphy
G-Sitton/Lang/Walker
C-Linsley/Trettor/Barclay

Defense-25-Note Pennel will not count on 53 since he will be suspended.
CB-Shields/Randall/Rollins/Gunter/Hawkins
S-Burnett/Haha/Banjo/Hyde/Brice
OLB-Mathews/Peppers/Perry/Jones/Elliot/Fackrell
ILB-Ryan/Barington/Martinez/Thomas
DE-Daniels/Clark/Lowery/Ringo
DT-Guion/Pennel

ST-3
K-Crosby
P-Mashtay
L/S-Lovato

Changes-Moved Perillo in for Backman. Backman hasn't taken a step forward, while Perillo has been steady all camp. Don't see any reason to carry 4

Dropped Davis at this point and kept Janis. Haven't seen a lot from Davis to warrant a spot on the roster and Janis is only out till week 2 and a key ST guy.

Murphy's excellent game vs the Raiders puts him on the roster. Young competent tackles are few and far between.

Lane Taylor who the packers resigned this off season and I'm assuming the Packers had high hopes to replace Sitton or Lang next year has played his way off the roster. Added Barclay because of his performance during camp and last weeks game, helps that Linsley is still down and can play C. If Linsley is healthy going into week 1 I think they go Taylor for the last OL spot, if there's still a question or Linsley shows rust I think that makes them keep Barclay.

On Defense I added Hawkins over Daniel, but we've really yet to see anyone shine as far the CB group goes for those backend guys. I honestly think they might keep 4 true CB's knowing Hyde can play CB.

Brice has played his way onto the roster, there's no question about that.

Removed McCray, he's struggled to make impact plays along with Elliot vs the second and third units. Really it's a toss up between those two. I think they keep Elliot due to the familiarity, but it appears it's another off season where he hasn't developed anything beside running around the outside shoulder of the OT.

Took Anderson off as he's been inactive the last two games(death sentence) and the only battle is for Pennel's spot for the first two weeks. Again I have them going with Ringo over Price due to familiarity with the player.

Other thoughts

Callahan will easily be on the practice squad but he's years away from being anything. If god forbid Rodgers is hurt, they'll have to go to the FA market to back up Hundley.

Burks has made some flashy plays, doesn't show signs a pass blocker giving the nod to Crockett. Rip has had two pretty rough games as FB, he can block better than Kuhn could ever but continues to make mental mistakes in the scheme.

Only thing on the OL I didn't touch on before. I think it's Tretter's Job to lose at this point for the starting center spot, hard to see a reason why the coaches would just give it to Linsley.

I'm personally pulling for Bradford to make the team, but Thomas is playing too well at this point and I don't think there's a reason to carry 5 ILB's on our team. Not to mention I think we'll see a lot of Burnett next to Martinez.

Surprised they haven't brought in another LOS after the one signed for a day and broke his hand. Wouldn't be surprised if Gode gets a call in October or November if Lavato struggles.

Great game by Mortell vs the Raiders, but I think it will take another solid two weeks for them to move on from Mashtay.

This is from the last thread before the LInsley news and possibility of PUP.

Linsley starting on PUP helps the packers carry 6 WR. Barclay would have to be on the roster if Linsley was part of the 53 but couldn't play the first few weeks. Saves us a roster spot.

Listening to all the position coach PC they did today. Zook said the politically correct thing by saying he doesn't know who's ahead in the punting competition, but also said he doesn't make the decision on who stays.

Mortell will have to clearly outpunt Mashtay these last two games. I hope he does.

Tomorow's big for him since he'll get all the reps tomorrow and Mashtay will get the day off. Almost wonder if they'll do that for the 2 last games. Give each a guy a game and see what happens.
