Giants Lead-up

Another Sunday nighter, the Giants have given us a lot of trouble over the years. They'll be coming off a short week with a road game in Minny tonight. Hopefully Shields is back to practice Wednesday. Not sure how bad Cook is hurt. Have to sweep these remaining 3 home games.

So does rooting for injuries in tonight's game make me a miserable person??? Oh, er, then I guess I won't.
Also, I think we need to prepare for life after Shields. He has had a couple of nasty concussions and is entering that "one more is the last" territory

Realistically, Shields should quit now.
Selfishly, as a football fan...I'm hoping he can finish the year. We can address getting more depth at the position in the offseason.

Such a tough break for Shields. Saw he wasn't practicing today either which is never a good sign after a bye week. The Packer fan in me obviously wants him to play, but I hope he's legitimately thinking about life after football. The guy has faced the toughest odds already with not only making it on an NFL team as an undrafted FA (not to mention after switching positions his last year at Miami) but also winning a Super Bowl in his first year. That's a pretty damn good resume for such a young guy, so there shouldn't be any shame in hanging them up early due to injuries.

Schefter said Shields wasn't going to play until probably mid-October, so I'm not surprised he couldn't go today.
We've been pretty bad on SNF lately, for whatever reason. Of course it doesn't really matter and it's all coincidental (I hope), but we're 2-6 in our last 8 games on NBC. Hope that trend stops on Sunday.

I have Diggs and the Queens D on Draft Kings and I'm sitting just outside the money in a tourney. Still rooting for the Giants through.

Even with Rhodes and Waynes, give the Vikes credit for going out and getting Munnerlyn and Newman in FA, vet corners those two can learn from.
Plus you can never have enough corners, especially against the Giants.
Obviously we need Shields against NYG. Obviously we should also do what's right for his well-being first.

Said it on the other thread...we're gonna need to win 14 to get a bye week in the playoffs. Maybe 13.

Who the heck is gonna cover ODB if Shields is out?
High Ankle sprains suck. We may not see Cook for a long time.

Well, at least it's football week again.

I have ODB in fantasy football but go against Eli so I fully expect Eli to throw for 4 tds and 300+ yards but ODB to get shut down.

ODB just went up against the (tied for) best defense in football. He's angry and he's gonna feast on the Packers' depleted secondary.

Yeah, I think so too. I'm just hoping the offense plays like they did in the first half of the Lions game. The Giants don't exactly have a scary defense, so the offense better put up some points.

Our offense and our defense is better than theirs, and they are on a short week. Not too worried about this one.

Ya I'm kinda worried about ODB having something to prove after the Minny game and all the articles about him hurting his team. And this being under the big lights again. And feasting on 2nd year corners.

OBJ has no TDs
He's going to torch the secondary and probably score twice. And what better stage than on SNF with NBC sucking him up before and during game time????
Though the Redskins have a worse secondary (Norman aside) and defense than the Packers.
Hopefully the run defense stays good and the pass rush can get to Eli who's been making mistakes.
McAdoo has been pulling an MM with predictable play calling and using the same formations. It's the same offense.

Odell scares me more than he scares Jackie Brown. Slumping, p*ssed off, and the referees will let him do whatever he wants now after his little hissy fit.
