Bears Lead Up - Shields amd and Lacy on IR

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Oct 17, 2016 2:54 pm

Pack favored by 9. Bears beat us last year on a Thursday night at Lambeau. I have a bad feeling about this one
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I usually hate Thursday night games but this time im happy with the quick turnaround to get the stink of this game over with.

I know the Bears are bad, but us favored by 9 in a short week ravaged by injuries? Everyone is looking for a get rich quick scheme and it looks like putting everything you own on the Bears in that spread is finally the way to do it :D

Bears are 1-5 but 9 points seems way too high. WAY TOO HIGH.

Rollins is already listed as out and Shields/Randall will both be questionable. Hoyer hasn't been playing poorly. Won't be shocked if we lose this one.

Don't be too sure Packer fans won't be dealing with a new stink come Friday morning.

Maybe it's a good time to have a quick turnaround against an awful team? No idea. Until Rodgers breaks out of his funk, I don't have much confidence that this is a playoff team, let alone a contender. He even plays at an average level and we're 4-1 at worst. Defense still looks great despite the offenses' failures.

D was terrible yesterday. I'd agree up to that point. And it wasn't just because the DB's were out, run D was also horrendous.

Thursday night games are stupid.

Have no prediction for this game.

I didn't see that they were terrible. I see an offense that literally couldn't have put them in worse situations. The only huge black mark on their performance yesterday to me was the TD drive to end the half, of which 95% you could put on one player (Gunter) who obviously shouldn't have been put in that position if not for injuries. They forced Prescott into two turnovers. We held them to 27% conversion on third down. The defense got off the field often enough, but the offense would just constantly give it right back to them.

Run D wasn't its usual dominant self but Elliot still needed nearly 30 carries to get those 157 yards. The defense pretty much did as good as you could have expected them given that the Cowboys were free to use a completely balanced offensive attack for the entirety of the game.

We'll win, be told to R-E-L-A-X, get bombed by Atlanta, rinse, repeat.

If we lose this game, I'm all for firing McCarthy. The Bears are an absolute mess.

I think we're close to this point. Although you never fire a coach midseason on a team that still has playoff aspirations, a 4th consecutive division home loss against a 1-5 team would be enough for me to question the sense of urgency from this team. Even if the recent struggles have been mostly on Rodgers, at the end of the year you have to reevaluate the coaching situation just like you would any other weak point on the roster.

At 63 Thompson is probably getting near retirement. Maybe he will be pushed into it by Murphy so Wolf can take over. Doubtful but possible. Then Wolf makes the call on the coach. I could see something like the team and McCarthy making a "mutual decision" to part ways. Then again Murphy is 61 so who knows how much longer he'll be around.

Hasnt TT said he knows when hes going to retire and that they are working on a succession plan? That leads me to believe its relatively soon. If this year turns into a dumpster fire I could totally see him moving that timeline up and letting the next GM (everyone assumes its Wolf) make the call on McCarthy. Its very important that a GM and coach are on the same page so with his pending retirement i dont think TT should be making that hire whenever it is.

I think it may be worth it to add a running back at the awful risk we may deprive ourselves of one of the UFAs or late round draft picks at the bottom of our roster.
