Wow. I thought that was going to be a TD when I saw how bad Shelton got burned. Nice recovery by Dixon.

Escaped. Neither team played real well. Will be tough at Northwestern.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Corn @ Bucky
Dixon is clutch, man. Almost comes up with the diving INT, gets frustrated about it, then comes right back to save the day when the receiver broke free in the corner on the next play. I was seriously worried when that ball was first in the air.
Certainly saved Endicott's ass. What a bum. He didn't give himself a chance on either of those last two kicks, and somehow misses an XP to put us up a full td. He would have been an epic goat. That's not just normal kicker lamentation where they can never win. That's doing your job like you're still playing Friday Night Lights.

I don't care who they choose. But for **** sake, pick a **** quarterback and **** stick with him (unless they truly go to hell, obviously).

Can you imagine if we had an average QB? This team would be scary good. Do they have someone else coming in next year?MikeIsGood wrote:I don't care who they choose. But for **** sake, pick a **** quarterback and **** stick with him (unless they truly go to hell, obviously).

Good question. Who competes with Hornibrook next year?

They have Kare Lyles, who I believe is in line for a redshirt this year, on the roster. Jack Coan is fairly well regarded incoming recruit from out East. I don't know a ton about either of them but I have a difficult time envisioning either beating out Hornibrook next year.

Yep however maybe Kare could give Horni a run. Horni hasn't really been improving however he has had to face elite team after elite team. Maybe we see some big games out of him coming up. This schedule has been crazy. After today, it looks like we should move back up to 8 or 9 I imagine. No team in the country is more battle tested than us.

Re: Corn @ Bucky
I guess I don't think Horni is as bad as some do for a RS frosh. If Lyles is good and pushes him - good. If not, Horni will be the QB and probably be fine with some improvement. He's played against solely good defenses.

Once our ever so slim shot at the playoff evaporates, I want to see 100% Hornibrook.

Re: Corn @ Bucky
I think the problem with Hornibrook is he's a sub-par athlete and he has a noodle arm, so what you see may be close to what you get going forward. Just being young and inexperienced doesn't give you potential. Your tools do. He'd need to tweak his deflection to throw a flatter trajectory ball with more zip to make a significant improvement. This tougher opposition was a big measuring stick to see how his modest mobility and lollypop balls would translate against faster teams, and he hasn't quite measured up.
I have no idea if Lyles could beat out Hornibrook next year, but it's too early for Coan.
If we had an average qb, like Stave was the prototype of, I think we'd be 7-1 and in line for the playoff right now. Stave had a stinker here and there, but that Michigan game qb rating wise was worse for Hornibrook than any of Stave's starts. So we win that game or OSU he plays as well as Hornibrook in or better. Against the non national championship winning dominant OSU team Stave played, he played better, and that was on the road. And we got shoddy qb play in the Nebraska, LSU, and Iowa games; so even if Stave was off in one of those it shouldn't have cost us. In retrospect, Houston would have given us a better shot to win one of OSU and Michigan because of his arm and mobility. But then he probably loses us 1 or 2 of the other games with his boneheaded INT's. I think all we'd need next year is average qb to be in competition for a playoff spot again too.
I've asked this question before but got no answer, so I'll ask again? What tier of running back in recent Wisconsin history do you think Clement is in? I'd seriously say 4th tier with guys like Hill, McCullough, and healthy Dwayne Smith. He's obviously not Gordon and Dayne 1st tier. He's not Ball or Clay 2nd tier. And really not even Fletcher or James White third tier. 4th tier back I think is fair. His game is completely non-descript. He was a better safety prospect, IMO. From what I'm seeing with Shaw, I'd project him as a 2nd tier rb, and I think he could get into the 1st. Burst, long speed, power, and vision. Him not playing more is one of the most dumbfounding coaching decisions in recent memory.
