So what are the chances at this point of the Vikings pulling a last year's Falcons and completely missing the playoffs after a 5-0 start? Predictably, their dominant defense could only cover up for their horrid offense for so long.

I'm glad to be wrong about them so far. This game is huge if you want them to be the Falcons of last year. As much as they've sucked, their homefield advantage is still huge. If they're 5-3 looking at some challenging games coming up, then they could miss the playoffs. I still think they can squeak at least four home games and an away game or two if their defense shows up.

I'm looking at their schedule and yeah, they're bound to scrape by and get a couple home wins, but the Lions are no joke and Stafford has looked like a borderline MVP candidate. @Jacksonville is really the only road game where I feel that they should definitely win, but they can pretty much lose any game if they couldn't move the ball against an awful Bears defense.

Conspiracy Theory being floated on Reddit:
Shurmur was actually the one designing and calling plays the first 4 games with Bradford due to his familiarity coaching him. Norv got his duties back over the bye week and produced two extremely lack luster games back at the helm designing and calling plays. Spielman and management tell Norv they want Shurmur calling plays and Norv resigns.

Maybe...but those would be some magical plays. Teams are just covering all of the mid-range routes and stopping the Asiata/McKinnon train with their front 6 as well as getting pressure on Bradford with their front 4. Teams are starting to figure them out.

Watching Tampa rush snaps at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarter....dumb with ATLs defense killing their line why allow them to time the snap?

Will be interesting to see the Vikings against the Lions this week and then @WAS. Can their offense turn it around? Were their defensive probs vs the Bears a fluke? But the Lions are tough to figure, too; they win 3 straight against good teams (PHI, LA, WAS) and then lose to HOU.

For the Vikings, it's all their offensive line. The rumor on Norv being fired is that he wasn't calling enough quick hitters that negate their line sucking.

Dallas is really the perfect situation for a rookie starting QB to be successful (and they've done a good job making themselves into that perfect situation too).
Not to take away from Dak, but Dallas has a great O-line, a good running game, and a passing offense that not only doesn't ask him to do too much but also seems tailored to fit his strengths.
This could be the rare case where a rookie QB doesn't really hit a wall and start playing like crap in a major way. (at least during the regular season).
